If you are a James Bond fan, this is a CD you will enjoy immensely. I have owned this CD since the late 90's and it is still one of my favorites for background music for dinner or a quiet evening with friends. This most recent purchase from Amazon was for a friend who liked it when she heard it at my house. When you listen to this CD you will realize just how much great music was in the Bond movies and how crucial the music was to setting the mood for the movies. Without this great music, the Bond franchise would never have been the phenomenon it was.

This CD hits it right on, all instrumental no singing. Just like going to the movies. A great buy!!! It would be nice to get the newest sound tracks as well.

These are not the original vocal versions of the James Bond themes. This cd is wholly intrumental with the always capable City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra playing the essential Bond themes (and some incidental music in the form of 'suites') from all the James Bond movies starting with "Dr. No" right through to "Golden Eye".More than just fine music, this cd also showcases how the actual theme songs deteriorated in excellence from the majestic and sweeping romanticism of "From Russia With Love", "Thunderball" and "You Only Live Twice" to the triteness and banality of "Golden Eye". Thank Goodness it stops there because Madonna's woeful effort ("Die Another Day") defies orchestration. How can one orchestrate anything so tuneless? ..but as you will see, the rot had set in long before that. Compare the punch in the face that is "Thunderball" to the wimpy "Nobody Does It Better" and you'll know what I mean. That said, there is still plenty of fine music here and it is played to perfection by a great orchestra. In my humble opinion, the instrumental versions sound better than the vocal versions... especially when it comes to anything after, and including, "Live And Let Die". Great stuff.

This cd has the instrumental scores from the James Bond movies. As I was watching a movie marathon recently, I started to pay attention to the background music. The movie themes are very soothing and evocative. I ordered this cd because it does not contain the "hit" vocal recordings, and have not been disappointed. I was surprised at how many memories I had associated with the various theme songs of the movies. 007 has been around for a long time! I use it as background music at work, among other things.

The only thing missing are the VOCALS.These instrumental renditions of the oh-so-familiar opening themes from the first seventeen Bond films are exemplary in their execution. Each meticulously arranged tune brings to mind the artists whose voices are heard accompanying the orchestral strains. As the twentieth film in the series awaits its release, this compilation serves as a fine reminder of why Bond music has been such a part of pop culture for four decades.

Nic Raine does a very good job with his interpretations of the James Bond Scores especially those composed by John Barry. Track 7: ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE / A VIEW TO A KILL is a very innovative combination of the key themes from these two films. This track has real drive behind it. Track 16: THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS (suite) is excellent. Track 17: LICENCE TO KILL (suite) is also very good. Nic Raine's interpretation of the main title is truly unique as he makes it sound like a John Barry composition! This is a very good CD and Nic Raine has taken more than just a passing interest putting this James Bond music together.

Bond, of course, is super cool, and, finally, here's a CD that is likewise! But be very careful with this one: play it just once and you're instantaneously addicted (and, without the aid of a support group, you may never get it out of your CD player!). Track 10 (LIVE AND LET DIE) is especially dangerous. If you're like me, your Bond CD collection is already in overload. What this digital gem brings to the proverbial table is a whole new audio perspective on the classic Bond film scores. And it's brought to you by the original arranger of most of the Bond scores, Mr. Nic Raine. Raine has done his magic yet again with new arrangements of many of his originals. The emphasis here is on laid-back jazz (instead of the heavy-metal--often irritating--pulsation usually present in Bond sound tracks). As I've often noted before, anything that Mr. Raine is involved with is a knee-jerk must have! No exception here. But, this CD has been out for a while, and may be close to "out-of-print" status. Like they say on late-night commercial TV: Act Now!
