These work exactly as described with the only drawback being, because physics, wherever they are placed the area under them will not grow. So if you have to bag the border of a patio along the grass line, expect the grass underneath to not grow. Remove them and the grass will return. The wet burlap smell when they are drying out and being handled (flipping them over in the sun to facilitate drying and flattening can take a week or more unless the weather is suddenly very hot). But they did their job.

For effectiveness I would rate them a 5 star, worked like the dam I needed to keep water from under my home. It's the afterward which earned 3 stars. I followed instructions regarding after the use with water to return to being completely flat as they were before the rain. I've tried everything, they have shrunk some but not flat, so storing is a problem.
