Great activities for any writing environment. I am a retired educator and I used it in a Summer Camp writing curriculum program. Students and I enjoyed the lessons which were very engaging.

I am a high school English teacher and this book is perfect for everyday bellringers! I put these up on the board they walk in and write for the first ten minutes of class everyday!

I tutor several students at different grade levels who love writing ... and some who don't ... and I believe this book will be a valuable tool in stimulating their creative imaginations to writing well, and reading more comprehensively. I plan to use this for my grade 5, 6, and high school students.

Mary Ledbetter is one of the best writing teachers; she is dynamic, creative and innovative! Her activities in this book are easy-to-use, and they have helped my students improve their writing immensely. The activities are mini-lessons, so they can be used a few times a week at the beginning of class. The students first learn a new writing method, then they see a paragraph which models the proper use of the method. Afterwards, they try employing the writing tactic into their own paragraph. I have noticed very creative, strong writing when I use this book.In addition, as the students learn more writing techniques, they can build upon each one. Therefore, when they write their paragraphs in their journals, they begin using the other techniques--combined with the new one! I recommend this book to a middle school or high school teacher. I teach 8th grade,so it works very well with this age group.

This book gives great and practical lessons for middle level students. They are very good for a writer's workshop. It's a must in an English class.

Although this book says is is appropriate for grades 6-12, I think it would be best suited for middle school. I think my high school students would roll their eyes at me in exasperation if I suggested they do most of the activities in this book. However, I really do think it would be pretty good for middle school.
