I am clueless when it comes to bike maintenance. I ordered this model because it was the right size and it looked like better quality than some others out there. I'm glad I did. It's very solid but does not add weight. My kid is very active on his bike; I know most quick release handles would do the job, but I feel better knowing he doesn't have some crappy pin holding his tire in place!

Fits standard size fork, in this case, a Specialized Venge. The conical spacer washer is not held on so it tends to fall off. A bit of a pain... and could really suck if it rolls away during an on-the-road wheel change. Works well otherwise.

I was very pleasantly surprised how well the larger size of these two offerings fit so I could replace the crappy through axle that shipped with my giant trance advanced advanced e+ and wonderful carbon ebike. Just be sure to grease it really well on the threads and on the shaft. For the Giant bike at least the length was a couple of millimeters longer in the threads and the OEM One. Thus I got better clamping Force without having to worry about the too short OEM thru axle that didn't have as many threads of engagement. Then the handle on this means you don't have to worry about stripping the head off of all these aluminum (since no one ships with steel ones anymore), axles. Just be sure since you have all the extra leverage not to over tighten this through axle with the handle. I'll take a thru axle with these little handles any day over the headcap with the Allen key versions.

My new bike was missing the thru axle. This one worked perfectly! The handle has a detent so it can be clocked to the correct position once the threads are tight. I would definitely buy this again!

The length of the axel was correct. It went through and threaded perfectly with a few threads protruding on the opposite side to give you the confidence that it is secure. The conical washer fit perfectly to my Specialized Allez Sprint frame. Not even my local Specialized dealers had this thru axel in stock and told me it was special order. This really helped me out. Thanks.
