I bought this rod for a project I have coming up.I was a little cautious because some of the reviews mention sloppy machining on the threads.The rod comes with a protective coating of oil on the threads and a little gunk, but that cleaned off easily with minimal effort.I screwed a nut down the entire length of the rod, in both directions by hand and had no problems going either way.It seems like a well made item that will work well and the price was right

Rod works perfectly. Outer edge of threads are not smooth and there was some flaking in the threads. Despite the visual flaws, the rod functions great.

The threads are not right. Out of 10 Acme nuts I tried they will not make it past the first few inches. Bought a new rod and no problem.
