I've been crocheting for over 30 years and consider myself to be an intermediate "hooker". I've made afghans galore, sweaters, throw pillows, doilies......all kinds of things, but the one thing I have always struggled with was the magic circle or magic ring. I don't know what it is about it but I just can't seem to grasp it in spite of watching loads of videos and reading step by step tutorials. This silly little thing - just a simple piece of foam - made it so much easier for me. It holds the ring for me so that I don't "lose" it and it makes it so much easier to see exactly where I'm supposed to be putting my stitches. I did a few practice runs with it to make sure I was actually able to do it and I was! Now I'm on the hunt for a cute amigurumi pattern that I can use with some of my never-ending scrap yarn. Highly recommend if you, too, struggle with magic circles. So I'm sure you're probably wondering why I'm giving this a 1 star rating instead of a 5 star rating. Well, after ordering this and being amazed at just how well it works, I looked into it a little bit. I soon discovered that two American women have a patent pending on this exact tool AND they sell it cheaper. Please don't do what I did. Don't support intellectual property theft - buy the original (available on Amazon & elsewhere) and support the creators. Just search "magic circle tool patent". 🇺🇸

I’m a sucker for crafting gadgets and ordered this one because I was curious about it. It really is an unnecessary tool for seasoned able-bodied crocheters, but I can see how it can be a very helpful tool for newbies and people with diminished flexibility, dexterity, or mobility in their hands when crocheting projects that require a magic ring start. (That’s pretty much all this is: a magic ring assistant.) I probably wont use this much right now, but if my hands become arthritic, it will definitely be a useful aid in my crochet toolbox.
