What Does a Timing Belt Do?
The timing belt keeps the camshaft and crankshaft turning at the correct rate.The crankshaft moves pistons up for compression and exhaust cycles, while the pistons move down for power and intake cycles. Depending on the vehicle make, a timing belt will also run the water pump, oil pump and injection pump.

The belt and water pump are of good quality except the defective tensioner which looks exactly as my original but does not tension the belt at all. Unfortunately am told to return the entire kit. Its going to cost me labour to remove the belt, cam seal (wich may be damaged on removal) and water pump.
