~ Titanium Dioxide Powder 8 oz Pigment for Soap Making TiO2 ~The Titanium Dioxide powder is pretty basic. Added to acrylic medium, and other pigments, I make paint. My main complaint is the packaging. Even though the information on the package does state that it contains Silica and Silica Lead components, No where does it have a Caution Statement advising you to wear protection when using! You should have adequate ventilation when using and avoid inhaling the dust particles. It is only because of my previous experience with using this mineral that I understand the importance of wearing a protective mask when handling this powder. Also, the paper like envelope is not conducive to repeated use and storage. I’ve transferred mine into a wide mouthed jar. This provides proper containment of the powder and ease of measurements which lessens airborne particles.Because of the packaging, I’m giving this Three Stars for being a good basic product, doing what it’s supposed to do, nothing more, nothing less at a competitive price point.⭐️⭐️⭐️

Yes, it is very powdery! I got this to try on a different application, other than soap making... I am taking a low fire ceramics class, and I wanted to play with this a little to see what it does with glaze. I only could do one test in time of the kiln firing, and what I found is that is mixed really easily into the glaze, and with water. I just tried it on a clay cookie and with an almost empty jar of junebug color glaze. I found it did work as a lightening agent, and it didn't burn off, but the more titanium white I mixed into the glaze, the more matt and less shiny my sample became. I can see using it to make gradations or monochromatic glaze designs. I think this has some good possibilities, and there are thousands of combinations to try as no two glazes react the same! This should be fun. This is what I have on hand, so I may try mixing titanium someday with a product specifically made for glaze. The price is reasonable enough for experimentation.

Sometimes you want to play with the asthetic look of DIY soap. If you want some that will give your soap a little uniquness beyond the scented oils, you will eventually start to look on how to create more exfoliation or change the color to be more unique.Using TiO2 powder, or more commonly in bead form, will help achieve a lightening and white streaks when properly crafted. The powder form is easy to measure so at this point it becomes more of a preference: Powder vs Beads.I actually prefer to use Titanium Dioxide as a soap lightner than the more toxic colorings out there. You should test the 'lightness' factor by adding a little to your oil additive for coloring. I use olive oil and mix in a little bit of TiO2 to see how will it colors along with determining how much to use in a batch of soap. Also great for use in painting. Adding to acrylics or oil paints, etc. in case you need to lightening up a shade just a tad.As with any soap-making, do so in a well ventilated area and gloves, face-mask, goggles and protective clothing. The back is sealable and 1/2 lb should last a while, unless you are in the business of selling DIY soaps.

If you’re someone who’s ever had the joy (and occasional mess) of making your own soap, you probably already know the importance of titanium dioxide. It’s the go-to whitening pigment that helps turn what would otherwise be beige bars into creamy, vibrant whites or pastel bases. This half-pound bag is a solid value and does exactly what it’s supposed to—just keep in mind, it’s a fine powder and you’ll want to handle it with care. It’s great for crafting; just don’t inhale like it’s powdered sugar on a donut. My Rubric✅ Good = Qualifies as a selling point➖ So-So = Not great, but also nothing resembling a showstopper❌ Not Good = Could be a showstopperMy star ratings, which tend to skew upward due to limitations in the 5-star system, are further elaborated in a decimalized scoring at the end of the review. Finally, although some items have been freely offered via the Vine system, I refuse to sell out and will never allow a vendor to influence my scoring through any means other than the quality of the product, both on its own and in relation to the current pricing at the time of my review. I value the efforts of other honest reviewers and wish nothing more than to pay their efforts forward in hopes of faithfully guiding others to informed decisions. The Good✅ Excellent price-to-volume ratio – A generous 8 oz of TiO₂ for a lot less than specialty brands charge✅ Works as expected – Blends nicely into soap and bath product bases for reliable color whitening✅ Multipurpose – Ideal for soap, shampoo bars, bath bombs, and other DIY cosmetic projectsThe So-So➖ Comes in a soft bag – Less protective and more spill-prone than the screw-top plastic jars some other brands use➖ Not labeled with safety info – No indication on the packaging to caution about safe handling, especially regarding airborne dustThe Not-Good❌ No inhalation warning – For a product this fine and dusty, it's surprising there’s no basic advisory on the bag to avoid breathing it inThe DetailsThis is one of those items that does its job well enough to be forgettable in the best way—until you open the pouch a little too quickly and get a faceful of pigment. The titanium dioxide is super fine (as it should be), bright white, and blends smoothly into both melt-and-pour and cold process soaps. If you're adding it to other personal care formulations like shampoo bars or bath bombs, it behaves exactly the way it should. However, I would have appreciated even a simple warning label. Titanium dioxide is generally safe when used properly, but it can be an inhalation hazard if mishandled—especially in powdered form. That’s more of a packaging oversight than a product flaw, but it’s something beginners might not think about. If you're already used to handling DIY pigments, this is a cost-effective refill. Just open with care and consider transferring it to a labeled container with a scoop for easier use.Final Rating: 4/5 (Excellent product for the price, just docked a point for the absence of basic safety labeling and less-than-ideal packaging.)

I am really into making my own homemade soap. I am trying to keep my ingredients as simple as possible. My recipe consists of coconut oil, palm oil, olive oil, water and lye. It usually comes out as a yellowish color. I have always wanted to try to make my soap white, this finely white powder pigment just answered my question. It is made of fine powder components, so it is strongly recommend wear protective gear when handling the powder. I have been making my soap batch of 64oz, so I only added a few milligrams in my recipe, just as I mentioned, I like to stay true to keep my ingredients as simple as possible. It will last me a long time. Good buy.
