When I opened the box and got the first 2 parts out (Rake and Fork) I knew this was a quality product. However, while I like the handle, it is not nearly as heavy as I think it should be. I am concerned that it will end up bending at some point.I used the rake on a small area and it does a great job. In fact, I may have used a bit too much force causing it to dig in further than it should. There will need to be some experimenting to find the right amount of force to use. I see mounds of thatch and blisters in my future.I was initially impressed with the way it was packaged, but the first thing I saw was that one of the sets of nuts/bolts were missing. Normally all hardware would be in a bag. But this product had the assembly hardware semi installed into the fork piece. Through shipping, one of the nuts/bolts came loose. Luckily, I found them in the box under one of the flaps. The manufacturer needs to find a better way to ship this. I did also like that they provided the necessary wrenches to use for assembly. This could have been an easy score of 5 if it was not for the concern of the handle.

This thatch rake works great. I guess I didn't look at the description that well, because I was unaware it would have to be put together. I was expecting a large box, like the last one I ordered, so I was unsure what I was opening when it came. It was very easy to assemble with the 4 handle pieces screwing together. I knew instantly that it was not a tool my husband should use because he is a big strong guy and very hard on equipment. The handle material is not real thin, but its not sturdy enough for him to use it. I knew when I put it together that he would bend the metal in the handle when raking. When I used it, I liked it, but I did notice that I had to tighten the pieces again after I made sure I put it together good. I was afraid of that happening, so I will probably be adding a little super glue where it screws together, if it continues to loosen up when I use it. I also thought the handle was a bit long, but I'm 5'3 so lots of things are that way to me. I haven't tried it yet, but I am going to take out one of the sections and use it with 3 pieces instead of 4 and see if that will allow me to put more pressure on the rake getting a better pull on the thatch to be removed. I found the rake itself to be very sturdy and does a good job. It's a lot more sturdy than the handle, and can easily be transferred to a solid wooden handle if the one provided doesn't hold up. I do think it will if I am the only one using it, but that doesn't always go as planned. It worked well, especially for the price.

The rake comes unassembled but is really easy to put together. I like that you can customize just how long you want it to be. I'm 6'0 tall and I find that the rake is too long when I assemble all of the pieces, so this rake is good for the folks out there even taller than 6'0. While I haven't had any trouble with the handle becoming loose or falling apart (you twist each handle piece into one another), I still tighten each section after my raking session to ensure that it doesn't come apart while working. The head of the rake has a good bit of weight to it, which makes it easier to use (you don't have to apply as much pressure with each stroke of the rake, since the head is doing a lot of the heavy lifting for you). The head's angle is adjustable as well and stays in place on the angle I set it to. The rake is comfortable to use without gloves, it has a nice soft rubber grip on the end of the handle. I should also mention that it has been effective at clearing out patches of dead grass without harming my healthy grass.I would order this rake again, it's been a nice addition to my ever growing garden tool arsenal.

Easy to put together. I de-thatched both my front and back yard in 3 different directions, then fertilized and watered it. New grass is already coming in beautifully. It was easy to adjust and use. Love it!.

I was excited when I came across this thatch rake as one is always needed in the Spring with my lawn! The rake can be used for a variety of yard type chores and isn’t only reserved for de-thatching your lawn! The rake is really good when it comes to gathering/forming a pile of cut limbs from bushes and trees. Since the head on the rake is heavy/solid, it has zero issues grabbing ahold of heavier yard debris. The tines on the rake are fixed which makes so the tines Don’t move at all while raking even larger yard debris or cleaning up after a storm! Now comes the rub with the Lack of Quality Control which does affect the overall appeal of the rake for a purchase! Hardware to assemble the rake is included, BUT, NONE of the hardware was bagged and only loosely tossed in with the other parts of the rake! That aspect alone made so I didn’t receive all the hardware to assemble the rake making for a trip to the hardware store unfortunately. The included assembly instructions depicted a pair of gloves, a screwdriver, as well as a wrench with None of these items included! The fork on the rake I received had bare metal exposed/paint Chipped off which will Definitely Cause RUST real fast! I had to purchase color matching spray paint(Yellow)in order to protect the fork on the rake from rusting. If you view my included pictures, you’ll be able to see what I’m describing. The sellers ad states, “Tool-Free Assembly”, that’s Not accurate info at all as you Do need a wrench to tighten some of the hardware for assembly! Two L shaped wrenches ARE Included with the rake which Do Fit the hardware for assembly. I had to squeeze and Hold that position(the squeeze)Tight in order for me to be able to insert the hardware into the hole in the fork.To be completely fair and impartial with this review of the thatch rake, I deducted one star for Lack of Quality Control with the rake I received. I deducted an additional star due to having to make a trip to the hardware store for the missing hardware as well as the spray paint! I’m NOT saying that the thatch rake isn’t worth a purchase either! The thatch rake is Totally worth purchasing as well as fairly priced and having a solid build that should hold up well over time! You might very well receive a thatch rake that has zero quality control issues and all the needed hardware! Outside of the few issues I had with the thatch rake I received, I’ve got to say the rake is a Beast and a Time Saver when it comes to plenty of yard work chores! With the included wing nuts, you’re able to tilt/position the rake head to the perfect angle for your own needs/use. You’re also able to customize the overall length of the thatch rake by either attaching all the included poles together or you can opt to leave out as many pole sections you’d like to based on your own needs! Outside of the issues I experienced, the actual assembly of the included poles and rake head to make a complete thatch rake is Easy and Quick! This thatch rake is now my Favorite rake to have/use!
