You should make sure to inspect the quality of the wheel. There's a QC PASSED stamp on it, but I bought multiple wheels and almost all of mine had some type of QC problem. It's a good functional wallet-friendly wheel for small animals, especially for the price. The small form factor makes it easier to fit. It's quiet, but the noise of claws hitting the wheel is something no wheel prevents. The mount design is not good. You will need a washer and a shim to make it work, or have it mounted on a horizontal bar. The mount is designed like putting a bottle cap on a spindle, and is a loose plastic screw that doesn't tighten all the way.I wouldn't say it's "safer". When it goes out of control from the speed, the rodent will fly out of the wheel in spectacular fashion. My rodents enjoy purposely flying out of the wheel and then landing in other places and occasionally trolling each other, so it ends up being a plus for mine. The width is just enough to allow for two to fit inside, which is also great. The rounded edges appear to be more resistant to chewing. But it's too early to tell, because I would guess that they'll eventually try to chew off the latches. Also reviews claim the wheels break down eventually.Comes poorly packaged. Only one box came without the spindle poking a hole in the box.One came with a latch broken off. Looks like impact during delivery.Another came with ridges and sharp edges from malformed plastic factory defects. I don't feel like returning it and the price was very good, so I'll probably try to sand it down for safety and use superglue for the broken latch.
