This is a sturdy and stylish flute case, definitely an upgrade from my old one. It holds my flute securely and feels well-made. The only downside is that there’s no designated space for a cleaning rod—I managed to fit it into the front zipper pocket, but I’m unsure if that will distort it over time. Still, a great case overall!

The latches on my Armstrong flute case have been worn out as long as I've had it (more than 40 years). At some point I took to using ponytail holders to keep it closed- not an ideal situation by any means. Although I've been hesitant to replace the case due to it being vintage, it really isn't practical or safe to transport in it's original case any longer. This case was affordable and included a shoulder strap.When looking at the product description and photos, I didn't notice that there isn't a slot for a cleaning rod. For someone like me who only plays occasionally for fun, it's not going to be a deal breaker as I can still zip the case if I tuck the rod in front next to the zipper. Or, it will fit in the exterior zipper. However I don't think either of these is an ideal situation for someone who plays daily or even regularly. Tucked in next to the zipper it can easily fall out when opening, and in both of these locations there isn't much protection. A bent cleaning rod can affect your ability to tune your instrument. I've included a photo of my old case with the blue velvet lining to demonstrate what the slot for the cleaning rod should look like.The listing also states that the inside of this case has a flannel lining. It isn't flannel, it is velveteen.Zipper is ok, it doesn't glide perfectly smooth, but it's functional and has a velcro flap to add security.The case is lightweight and easy to carry, and my flute feels pretty secure. Had I realized there wasn't a place for the cleaning rod, I probably would have continued looking for a case that had one instead of jumping on one so affordable.
