For the price they are an excellent option! First you have to ensure you have a compatible tracking system on your kayak or you can easily install one! Once your track is in place they are straight forward. Smaller in size than my boat one’s- which is another great idea! The open quickly once you get it down and they are built well! I feel these are a great value, easy to install and work flawlessly!

Very nice rod holders. Quality material and they work well. The only think I dislike about them is the locking mechanism. It works like a plastic push knob. The part that locks it is a very small notch, and also isn't difficult to actuate, which could lead to issues when boat is in tow or fish on the line. Losing a rod and reel to that would be pretty upsetting, not that it has happened yet.

These rod holders are about 3/4 of the size of the ones I use on my boat, and that's just the way they should be for a kayak. They are lighter weight and easy to push parallel to the sides when not in use to keep them out of your way. The "T" track mounts work with standard kayak tracking. They adjust but lock in place so long as your rod is not too heavy. If you haven't used this type of fixed rod holder before, it takes a bit of practice to get used to the motion needed to quickly remove your rod if you've got a bite, but once you do it's fairly straightforward.

My kayak came with one rod holder installed but I wanted to install another rod holder so I am going to use the rail mount system that has become so popular recently on kayak accessories. You basically mount a small rail onto your kayak and secure with stainless screws into your kayak hull. The rod holders can then be installed into the rails when you are fishing and then removed while transporting your kayak. The rod holders can accommodate either spinning or baitcasting reels mounted on a rod. The rod angle is adjustable and there's an elastic strap which secures your rod in place. The strap is easily removed when you need to remove the rod from the holder and play a fish. The rod holders are well built and should last a long time with proper care.Note that you must purchase the rails that screw to your kayak separately.

I will compare these rod holders to the much more expensive yak rod holders I purchased when I bought my kayak. The material (plastic) these holders are made of is very sturdy. Just like the more expensive ones. The front of the rod holder keeps the rod from coming out with a rubber strap. Not as sturdy as the name brand ones but the rubber is lighter and works well. They attach to the standard rails using the T bolts others use. The one prop for this rod holder vs the expensive ones is when you cinch them down they don’t wobble. They are very sturdy! The system they use to allow the rod holders to swivel is easier to manipulate than the expensive ones as well! Lighter, less wobble, easier to use and much less expensive. Good job guys!!

Seems like a very nice rod holder. I like the compact size and removeable mount for kayak fishing. My only concern is the rod holder moves quite a bit up and down in the base, even when locked. I don't think it's going to come out, but it feels sloppy loose when inserting or removing the rod. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. For the price, I think it's a great value. It's easy to install and adjust.

These are Scotty knock-offs ( can I say that ? look at the picture-they look identical ) and I like them . They interchange with no problems and that's really important to me. Could have used them 2 weeks ago as I went on a kayak fishin' trip on the New River in WV and borrowed a vibe kayak with the T rail mounts instead of my Eagle Talon ( way more stable over rocks and rapids ) which doesn't have T rails so my rod holders wouldn't work. I wasted time going to Bass Pro Shops which didn't have the Scotty adaptor and bought the RailBlaza Tracmount and another rod holder because they felt like reinventing the wheel and coming up with their own star mount system that is incompatible with all others. And...the locking clip broke on the rail adaptor after 2 days. This part is more robust . You can't go wrong. Works great with my fresh water rods and kayaks.
