The ancient sometsuke teacup introduced here originally came from China to Japan, and during the late Ming Dynastys Tianqi and Chongzhen periods (17th century), it was produced in the Jingdezhen kilns. Known as ancient sometsuke or Shangrui, it became popular mainly for tea ceremony utensils.
Please thoroughly enjoy this ancient flower-patterned sometsuke teacup, which has become a cornerstone of Japanese food culture.

I was so excited about this cup! When it arrived, it had a gray background, and the lines of the design were much thicker than pictured and a little sloppy. I sent it back.

Came well packaged and quickly. I was looking for a smaller sized cup for tea and this is good. Nice and smooth with beautiful crackling in the glaze. Maybe a little more gray than shown.
