Living in Florida means you will get in close contact with wildlife even if you live in an urbanized city. I knew I always had "guests" in my backyard but wasn't sure who! Installed this cool gadget in my backyard to record them especially at night. It did not disappoint. The footage is vivid, and the night vision is crisp and clear. Deer, racoons, armadillos, birds ... all captured on film. Fun gadget for those who are curious about what creatures live around them.

The camera is very easy to set up and use. This is the best trail camera I’ve ever used.

EXTREME LIMITATIONS ON THIS TRAIL CAMERALet me start by providing my ability to be straight forward in this review.I have had a career in mechanical engineering design for 37 years, working in global engineering firms for world class client companies (many you're very familiar with). I specialized in design of complex industrial systems in a variety of applications. I'll spare you further details. In other words, you can trust my review.I'll separate this review into categories for clarity.1.) Camera Packaging: --- I received the camera promptly in good order with all items present. (Kudos Amazon) (10/10)2.) Application: --- The APP (TrailCam Go) was easily downloaded and installed to my Samsung Galaxy 5G phone without issue. No update was required as is often the case. (8/10)3.) Personal Account: --- I created a personal account in the APP using a personal email account. This process was completed in short order using email verification. (8/10)4.) Initial Camera startup: --- I installed 12 (yep, a DOZEN (Duracell AA's) batteries. No batteries are included with the camera. (4/10) --- This camera CAN run on just 6 AA batteries, but they will be RAPIDLY be drained.5.) Instruction Manual: --- This isn't a manual it's a printed pamphlet using 5 POINT FONT (YES just 5 hundredths of and inch) And the Contents portion covers just 1/3 of the area. NOTE TO MANUFACTURE --- If the page has ample space, use LARGER text ... Better than that... USE A LARGER PIECE OF PAPER WITH LARGER TEXT. (2/10)6.) Camera Power Switch: --- The switch is a three position slider type switch. (OFF/SETUP/ON) (1/10)A) The imprinted position text is 6 point font. (measured) Virtually unreadable. The same for the remaining text on the adjacent buttons. (1/10)B) The switch is VERY difficult to slide just one place over to use SETUP. (1/10) It's a switch, people, a switch.7.) In Camera Menu: --- The camera operating menu is displayed in the 2.4" (diag.) LCD display. Easily readable and clear. It covers most of the BASIC functions normally available on a trail camera. (7/10)8.) CAMERA ARRANGEMENT: The screen that shows the camera view during the SETUP and normal operation in ONLY visible with the front half of the camera OPEN. ( many cameras do this and it makes aiming the camera in the desired direction impossible. It's a decent size of image on the LCD screen so better than a smaller 1.4" screen (1/10)9.) There is a 6v DC port available on the bottom of the camera. The port has a rubber plug if external DC power is not used. HOWEVER. THE FRONT MUST BE CLOSED IN ORDER TO INSERT THE EXTERNAL POWER PLUG. THIS ELIMINATES THE ABILITY TO CREATE AND USE A PASSCODE FOR CAMERA SECURITY. WITHOUT A SECURITY CODE, ANYON CAN USE THE FULL FUNCTIONALITY OF THE CAMERA. NOW THE THIEF HAS YOUR CAMERA AND CAN USE IT AS A NON-CELLULAR CAMERA. (-5/10)10.) The camera will not send photos or videos to your account unless to have a subscription. The Amazon description states that the owner is provided 1000 photos or videos on a TRIAL BASIS and then a subscription is required.NOT TRUE. To use the cellular service on your TRIAL BASIS you first select the mid range option for 1000 photos and videos at a cost of $0.01. Then the pkg rates apply. The time frame for this "Trial Pkg" is one month. (-5/10)11.) There is no way to simply view what the camera will take as imagery or videos without a subscription. This can be resolved by placing the view screen facing forward. Or by sending a thumbnail image to your phone from the camera. (-10/10)12:) The 'TrailCam GO' APP menu is similar (but not any more detailed) than the "in camera" menu. Control of camera functions are VERY basic at best. (5/10)13.) Technical Support: There IS an "In APP" chat option that provides for questions and troubleshooting to be addressed. HOWEVER... YOU GUESSED IT.... The replies to my questions were oriented toward subscription signup, app binding, and cellular signal reception. NONE of the answers addressed my specific inquiries. (-20/10)14.) Image quality for 4K video is not even close to the 4K from my action camera. I appears to be upscaled 2.7K (0/10)15) Photos in cellular mode are limited to 2MP, 4MP and 8MP. The other MP image qualities (12MP-60MP) are only available in NON-CELLULAR MODE. There is no information available that indicates what quality of video size is sent to your phone with each trigger. (-50/10)16) Night vision... Who knows? I wasn't able to recover any night vision images. (?/10)There are JUST SO MANY ISSUES THAT I HAVE NOT COVERED HERE, but time prohibits.CAREFULLY READ AND FULLY UNDERSTAND THE COMPANIES PRIVACY AND END USER POLICIES IF YOU DO BUY THIS CAMERA. THE COMPANY IS COLLECTING PERSONAL DATA WITH YOUR PERMISSION from your phone.Be prepared to make trips to the camera location to replace 12 AA Alkaline batteries. (rechargeable AA's are not allowed) Why even buy this camera to use as a cellular camera? (-100/10)DO NOT PLAN ON USING A 6V DC EXTERNAL SOLAR POWERED BATTERY BANK WITH THIS CAMERA IT'S VERY DESIGN PREVENTS THIS.THE BOTTOM LINE ......... AVOID THIS PRODUCT.
