Went out of my way to find a USA made Honeywell product and ended up with a made in China Resideo product. Seems to be of decent quality otherwise, but the add clearly says this is a Honeywell of US origin and that is not what I was sent.I don't mind the product which seems to be of otherwise good quality and will probably have to buy more so they match in my installation, but I don't like the inaccurate listing or the inflated price that I'm sure comes from the Honeywell brand name claim. There are tons of made in China 40va transformers with these specs for less money, usually closer to $20. This is a 3 star product if advertised as what it really is at this price.

Good stuff. Installing in a junction box in. the ceiling takes a bit of patience. Our Ring camera used to go offline quite often, although I ensured the old transformer was good and I used a power adapter [may not be using the correct term] that Ring recommended. The WiFi was often felt to be the culprit. After the new transformer, "offline" never happened.

I bought this to power my ecobee smart wifi thermostat. I only had a two wire thermostat, so I initially bought one of those plug-in 24v transformers. That worked, but I didn't like the wire dangling along the wall, and I wouldn't be able to mount the thermostat perfectly flush. So I bought this and mounted it with included screw to a knockout in an adjacent light switch electrical box. I made one more hole in the drywall to fish thermostat wire from new transformer to thermostat, and viola, done! I tested the voltage with a Fluke multi-meter, and like the other reviews state, it does put out 27 volts; however, the ecobee powered right up, calibrated itself and is running now for a few days since install.I actually was concerned about heat output of this transformer, since a different branded 18v transformer that I bought to power a Ring doorbell, got really hot. I touched the transformer after install and powered, and I felt no heat. Now the hard part: Patching up the holes. [sigh]

I have three ring doorbells and they would randomly cut out and be down for hours or days then come back online. Some googling led me to the power issue. After installing this, all three doorbells are on and working without issue. The install was easy but finding the old transformer took a while. Nothing to do with the product, just that it was added to a random light box over a recessed light.

Got this to be able to hook up our new Ring Doorbell security camera.. we decided it (Ring) needed to go on my office shed which faces down the driveway and has the largest distance view of our yard (we've had batteries stolen from my husband's boat, wires CUT and a gun, nothing else, stolen from our home.. more recently my brother in law spotted people cutting through our yard for no reason! We are in the country with no neighbors close). My office shed has no doorbell and we didn't want to worry about dead batteries. My husband and his brother installed, seems easily enough but I'm unsure how they felt currently.. and working well.

It works - sort of. The output voltage is too high by approximately 10%-15% at the rated input voltage of 120VAC. If your power company boosts its transmission line voltage during the day, the output voltage will be even higher than the 10-15% it already over-generates. I'm guessing this is the result of a lack of manufacturing quality control at the factory in the Far East. Furthermore, one of the output terminal screws was stripped and couldn't be tightened down on the low-voltage wire to the furnace controller. I had to disassemble the output side of the transformer and re-engineer the mechanical arrangement of the screws, replacing them with longer 6-32 machine screws with thumb nuts to attach the wires. With this modification, the transformer is now a mechanical duplicate of the 70-year old transformer it was replacing. Also, the junction box cover plate supplied with the unit was way too flimsy to support the weight of the device. Use a standard junction box cover plate with a center knockout instead. I contacted Honeywell Technical Support and let them know about the over-voltage situation, the stripped screw (as well as my fix), and the flimsy junction box cover plate.
