Trapper Ron's Body Grip Safety Setters 330 Size Here is newest design in body grip trap setters. This strong little tool is great for the trapper who traps alone. Made of stainless steel and laser cut parts this tool is sure to never let you down in the field. This is the tool which could someday save your life. One of the best features of the tool is that it folds up and can fit into your pocket. This will also do 280, 660 and 1000 sized traps.

Clever idea and a must when setting body traps. Quick delivery.

I've not used the scissor-type setting tools, but they seem like they'd be awkward to handle and use. Plus, it's more size/weight you've got to carry out into the field. This setting tool fits in a pocket and allows you to easily set up your traps. It has a decent nickel plating which prevents most of the rust/corrosion, but doesn't stop it completely. However, my guess is your traps are all rusty and nasty anyway, especially when working with 330s, so your tool having a bit of light rust on it is probably not a concern.Overall the tool is great, but I think $33 is a bit steep for a couple bits of laser-cut steel joined by a foot of bicycle chain, which is the only reason for the missing star in my review. However, I'm pretty sure these are made in small batches by a one-man outfit and we've all gotta make a living, right? Bottom line is the product works great. One slight issue with this tool is it can be difficult to work around an alive, angry snapping turtle you've caught in your 330 trap. Obviously you want to set these guys free without harming them, and it's not that easy to keep them distracted while you finagle the trap and tool, and also not that easy to find a good place to step on the trap so you can apply the needed force to the spring. It's totally possible though; as I generally catch more turtles than I do Beaver. In case you don't understand the basic theory of operation:1. You stand the hoops/jaws of your trap up vertically, and step on the crossbar of the hoop touching the ground.2. Drop the hook down through the top eyelet of your spring, and then thread the hook down through the bottom eyelet of the spring, and catch the hook on the eyelet.3. Pull upward on the tool - which will pull the bottom spring eyelet upwards, compressing the spring. This takes some force. I'm an able-bodied man and don't think it's that hard, but women/children might have a hard time with it.4. You may need to use your other hand to finagle the spring eyelet past the pivot rivet of the trap hoops/jaws.5. Continue pulling upwards until the hook catches on the top spring eyelet - now the tool is holding the tensioned spring.6. If you have man-hands, you can then squeeze the spring together just a little bit more and flip the safety hook into place (which requires just slightly more spring tension - which relieves the spring force holding your setting tool in place.7. Remove the setting tool and move on to the spring on the other side of your trap

Not enough leverage for 330 magnums.
