The operation of the WUTAPAO Steamer was inconsistent and I was a bit frustrated when pushing the button for the steam release function. The flow of steam would be intermittent upon release of the button. In other words, sometimes the steam was released and at other times, it wasn’t, causing me to spend more time to steam the creases out of clothing as opposed to using a standard iron. For that reason, I am not a fan of this travel steamer.

This steamer heats up quickly so it's ready to go, but it has a significant delay when steaming. Also the iron temperature is not adjustable, so you need to either put something between the iron and the clothing or take a chance of harming the garment. It's great that it's portable but the lack of adjustments makes it less useful.

So steamers have multiple uses; they are not just for clothing or curtains. I am a a wig wearer so I use a steamer to recondition synthetic wig fibers when they become frizzy. This “steamer” intrigued me by its unique shape, so I was eager to try it out. However, it did not give a constant release of steam like a traditional steamer does. In fact, it was hard to get the steam to come out at all. The instructions were not very clear, but I followed them as best as I could. The only way to release the steam was to press a button on the other side, which didn’t always work. It was also hard to tell that it was heating up at all; the indicator light would turn on for a second and then turn off, and then turn back on for a second and turn off again. The only way I knew it had heat it up was by touching the side at which point I decided to push the button. Nothing happened at first, it took me several tries of pushing the button before steam actually released. And then I had to push the button 3-4 times until it had no more steam to release. Then I had to wait for it to heat up again. In my opinion, this is not a very good “steamer” or steam iron, as seems to be more accurate a description.

We got this for a travel as currently my wife likes to take both her iron and steamer on vacation. This gives you both capabilities while saving space. Here is our impression.It seems well built and heats up quickly. When using as a steamer it provides short blasts of steam. After each blast you need to wait 8-10 seconds for another blast. The ceramic heating plate for ironing gets hot quickly. The instructions caution using it on low temperature fabrics as the iron temperature is not adjustable.It does not work as well as a traditional iron. She said that she likes using her iron better and it has a point on the heating plate to get into all areas she wants to iron. She likes her dedicated steamer better as it provides a constant flow of steam which makes it easier and quicker to use.The only advantage is you get both on a compact device for travel but my wife says she prefers to still carry her dedicated iron and steamer.
