This worked perfectly in fixing our 2002 GLS Jetta. The part we removed from the car was actually listed as 1J5-827-505-F, but this part appears to be the same. Super easy install.

Had the plastic pieces inside my original latch break. Probably from a combination of age, regular wear and tear, and some extreme cold. Simple fix if you have a socket wrench, ratchet set. Mine was an OEM part from Mexico factory, also where the car I used it for came from.

Fit perfectly and includes the emergency release cable attachment point. Old one out and new one in roundtrip about 20 minutes. The hardest part is getting the end by the emergency release lever snapped on. While you have the trunk lid cover off (13 screws), check the condition of the actuator lever near the solenoid. They are notorious for breaking since they are plastic.

i bought this after my trunk would no longer close. If you can change a tire, you should be able to do this. A basic metric tool set with a set of torx drivers should provide you will all the tools you'll need. I had the old one off and the new one on in less than 30 minutes. It's been a few months now and it is still working perfectly.
