This is not worth purchasing. In less than one year I have had to replace this part 3 times. Pay the extra cost and replace with a genuine replacement. I thought I was saving money and now had I bought an OEM part, it would have cost less than the money I put out on this garbage. I dismissed the first one as a deffective product, now here I am replacing it again because of poor quality. Don't make the same mistake that I did.

This product was installed late August 2023 and on a vehicle that is not a daily driver. Don't waste your money. This is garbage.

Product stopped working after a few weeks (though I hardly used my trunk at all and even then it broke after hardly any use). Installed it no problem, appeared to work at first, then went to use the trunk and it does not latch closed. Meaning that the car dings nonstop because it appears the trunk is open.I am very dissatisfied.

The part was reasonably priced and common among many models of VW's. Getting the part off the car requires some knowledge of how the plastic parts covering it come off. Search YouTube videos to learn the techniques and save $100's on a dealer doing it. Determination wins the day.

The latch on my wife's 2012 Tiguan stopped latching. The dealership was going to charge several hundred dollars in labor and parts. I watched a video online about how to replace this...and while I am not the most savvy at automotive repairs, this was dead simple. Literally took me fifteen minutes from start to finish to install this. I did need to purchase an M10 socket. I bought the LEXIVON XZN Triple Square Spline Bit Socket Set (ASIN B07M6884DY) for ~$20.

Called the local VW dealer. They priced the part at $189.00. That's seven times the cost of this replacement! Installation was simple. Several YouTube videos to follow if you need them. You will need to borrow or purchase a triple-square bit to remove the bolts.My first purchase was 11 months ago, that latch failed last week. I contacted Tamkken, and they sent a replacement as per warranty, no charge. That is standing behind your product! Thank you for your integrity.

Dealer wanted $210 plus tax and about another $170 to install. I purchased this part and it is working perfectly, it took all of about 10 minutes to make the replacement repair. I bought triple square tool kit by Levico also at the same time, madi it easy. This was a very easy repair, removed 2 screws with T20 bit, I did not have to remove the plastic hatch panel, there was enough flex in it that I could get to the two latch bolts needing triple square socket bit, don’t remember the size, the kit had it and cost about$18. Easy fix!
