Thankfully from other reviews I knew what I was getting into. This part comes with no instructions, so I suggest searching the reviews for your car type before starting this project. Several folks had provided instructions for a 4Runner and that was very helpful. I strongly recommend spending the $10 for a mini ratchet screwdriver set instead of using the tool provided with the part - it. will save a lot of headache because the tool provided with the part is a joke.Goo Gone worked pretty good for me when removing the melted rubber. And know going into this project that it takes some time (plan for at an hour plus) to remove and clean the handle. Installing the cover is pretty simple, but it's a mess getting to the point where you put the new cover on because everything needs to be clean so the new cover fits properly. And as others have said, wear gloves because the rubber stains your fingers.Time will tell how durable the part is, but short story is the cover fit my 2013 4Runner nicely and it was an inexpensive fix.

Hey there, fellow Sienna owner! Replacing a Sienna liftgate latch can feel like wrestling a grumpy badger, especially if you're not exactly a mechanical whiz. But fear not, and let my tale bring hope! Here's the good news: you can totally replace that latch without ripping off a bunch of trim pieces (at least on a 2009 Sienna, like mine). I started out just like you, thinking a little scrape-and-screw would do the trick. Wrong! Turns out, I was in for an adventure. Those screws? Let's just say they weren't exactly itching to come out. It's the angle that is a killer. An eighth of a turn at a time, if I was lucky - and I wasn't usually lucky! But with some perseverance (and a strategically propped-open back hatch), I got those suckers loose. Here's the magic trick: once the screws are out, some plastic tabs holding the latch in place no longer offer resistance - so the whole piece can be pulled out a few inches gently. This is where things get awesome - you can now see the whole latch and swap it out without messing with any trim! Now, the old latch removal? Let's just say it wasn't a beauty pageant. Goo galore! GooGone helped a little, but a tiny plastic scraper (think miniature flathead plastic screwdriver) was my champion. It didn't get sparkling clean, but hey, most of the gunk was gone. Then came my amazing wife, who basically ninja-wrapped the new latch into place. Screws went in slow (but much faster than coming out, whew!), and bam! Working latch, and no more black fingers every time I open the back. So, the moral of the story? Don't be discouraged if you're not a mechanic superstar. With a little determination (and maybe some spousal encouragement), you can totally replace that Sienna liftgate latch without becoming best friends with the trim removal process. And hey, if I can do it, anyone can!

Toyota didn't make it easy to unscrew and replace the pad, so it is nice that the bent screwdriver comes with this replacement kit. I have 1,000 tools and I still needed/used this tool. You could put a Phillips bit in a small ratchet and use that. But the included screwdriver worked fine.Be aware the process may not be a 5-minute "unscrew, remove old, insert new one, screw it back together." My old rubber pad had deteriorated so much it was sticky and gummy and removing the old pad tore the rubber and left sticky residue on the nylon frame.*** Use rubbing alcohol to remove old rubber residue ***Using a rag, Q-tips and copious amounts of alcohol--which doesn't degrade the nylon--plus time and persistence got the nylon pretty darn clean in 15 minutes or so. Installing the new one and screwing it back in place was easy. Fit was perfect.

Fit good, tool included to remove screws on a Sienna is no good so used own tools. Happy with purchase so far.

This worked great on my 2010 Sienna. Like others have said, this takes some work to remove the original screws and latch and to scrape/remove all of the goop from the original latch cover. The picture is of the best tool combo I found to remove and reinstall the screws. Vice grips and a #2 screw bit. The supplied screw driver just didn’t have the right angle on my van to be affective.Mask off the car around the latch and take your time and you can back the screws out. Once cleaned up, take the washers off the original screws to keep the screws from binding on the new rubber and install the new screws before putting the latch back. This lets you cut threads with the new screws to make them easier to install. Back them out, install the switch, then drive them back in in your newly cut threads. I hope that helps! Took me about 45 minutes with about 17.63 minutes of running for tools. Start with the right tools and this is an easy way to make your family happy and keep the black funk off your spouse’s fingers.Final hint: orange soap with walnut shells takes the goo right off your fingers when you are done if you couldn’t handle the small screws with gloves on like me.

My OEM rubber cover had somehow deteriorated into a horrible gooey mess that rendered the switch inoperative. It was a difficult cleanup job with lacquer thinner and a small brush, but the old one eventually melted off. The new rubber cover fit perfectly and works very well. I recommend it!
