Insufficient taper on business end of wedge. Almost impossible to set wedge in log for additional strikes even after creating an initial groove with 8 lb splitting maul (wedge pops out). Had to completely regrind (lengthen) lead taper to allow successful initial set in log. My 40 year-old wedges with long lead taper work much better. Unless you are willing to rework the taper these wedges are not for you.
