Via the opening in the attachment you can see at any time how far the cork has already come up. The attachment aligns itself with the edge of the bottle and remains in the verticle position with the spiral turns in the cork. Thanks to the "soul", the hollow space in the center of the spiral, the cork sustains little damage and can be used to close the bottle again. The spiral is non-stick coated and the size of the handle make little force necessary to turn the corkscrew. The knob turns one way to screw into the cork.
