I’m kind of a pitch junkie, and so when we got some newer records I am SUPER familiar with, it was driving me nuts that they sounded slower, and lower in pitch on our vintage marantz. I lubed the motor and spindle, nothing. I boiled the belt, nothing. I cut pieces out of the belt and superglued it back together, shorter... nothing. I cleaned the belt with pledge... suddenly it was too fast and the notes were too high! I ordered this belt, then while it was on the way, I glued pieces back into the original belt trying to get it slower... got closer, but still not there. This new belt arrived super fast (about four days?), was packed well, in great shape, and fit a whole lot better than the old one. I was stoked to put it on and.... still too fast! I played the same song on Apple Music at the same time and basically my turntable was cutting 8 seconds off a 3-minute song... so not chipmunk fast but enough to change the notes up a whole step or so. I wanted to exhaust my own options first before contacting the seller for advice because I was determined not to look like an idiot. Lo and behold.... there was a speed adjustment screw!! Pictures are attached. I rotated mine about a quarter turn counterclockwise and it was a perfect guess, I didn’t even have to make any additional adjustments. Long story short, I should have used pledge and/or the speed adjustment screw first, boiling and cutting/gluing wasn’t necessary. I am glad I bought this belt though, my TT had the original belt so this was long overdue. And now that I know where the speed adjustment screw is, I look forward to getting many pitch perfect years out of this belt.
