These are just what I needed for brewing, so be aware this review is written for this product as a specialized piece of homebrewing equipment.Before kegging or bottling, I drop the hydrometer directly into the carboy rather than pull off a sample to test (you're unlikely to get an infection that late in the beer's life). To get it out, I've always had to tap it hard with the handle of a wooden spoon and try to catch it when it comes back up - awkward and doesn't always work if there isn't a full 5gal in the carboy.This, however, lets me reach in and pull it up easily. I can also grab it and move it to where I want to much easier than I could with the wooden spoon (which involved sweeping it around behind the hydrometer and nudging it forward), and I can even turn it a bit to see one of the other scales on the device.
