I have seen and used these on boats, and on decking safety lines. I'm working on a shade structure that must be able to be taken down occasionally. These will facilitate the taking-down part.

I was pleasantly surprised with how solid and well made these were. I was a little hesitant seeing how any other marine grade product like this is usually 4 times the price. These fit great and lock securely.

Let me just concur w/ what has been written. The description by the seller is NOT accurate- the stud is 5/16ths, it is Left handed, but, to reiterate the former reviewers, the thread count is NOT 24, but closer to 20. As stated earlier, the quality of the pelican hook is high, and if you intend to use the nicopress fitting, you are good to go.

In spite of other people's reviews they continue to sell this with the wrong description. It states that it is 24 threads to the inch. It is not 24 threads to the edge but rather 20 or 21. It's a waste of time as someone else already has said. Please don't order this unless you definitely don't want 24 threads to the inch, or if you're going to use it and crimp it on it won't matter

I bought these from the marinepartdepot.com store where the thread is advertised as 5/16 inch, which is a standard US size. I was not intending to use the swage fitting, but to thread them onto my current lifeline studs.If you are going to use the wire swage studs provided - great. The pelican hooks appear to be a high level of quality and were well polished.But they are not US standard 5/16" threads and I could not use them. I do not have the right measuring tools to be certain, but I believe they are metric M8 8mm threads.
