Same horrible, dangerous faulty wiring as Jim Smith wrote. My switch also had the black ground wire wrongly attached to the center post and the switch did not work. I moved the black ground wire to the terminal that does not have continuity between the ground terminal and the center terminal. The other end terminal should have no continuity to the center terminal when the switch is off, and continuity (for out power) when the switch is on. I'm really lucky I did not fry my electronic with this wrongly wired switch. It works after I corrected the wiring.I wasted a *LOT* of time troubleshooting all my other connection before finally figuring out that this switch was the culprit with its faulty wiring.

Use it for my inline switch for my 30 W. Floodlight works great.

I'm giving this a 3-star because this switch doesn't work the way some, like myself, expect, and understand why others fried their circuit. I assumed I could use this to control the positive side of a DC circuit. The wiring diagram on Amazon (nothing ships with switch) clearly shows this to be a negative pole switching device. I did not see the diagram until writing this review. Thankfully my test circuit was fused, not connected to equipment, hence no permanent failures occurred when wiring to standard lead code convention. Just a blown fuse. If you wish to use this switch for the positive side of a circuit, what worked for me is the following (do so at your own risk): Black = (+) source; Yellow = (-) battery/chassis ground; Red = Device (+) power in the On position open in the Off position.

The yellow wire drives the switch illumination. The red & black wires are switched. IOW the switch would function just fine without the yellow wire attached to anything, just using the red & black to switch a connection on/off, but the switch wouldn't illuminate when on.The seller's diagram is a bit convoluted, but it shows the negative leg being switched, so the yellow wire has to go to positive in order for the switch to illuminate. It works the other way too, you can switch the positive leg, in which case the yellow wire goes to negative.

I'd actually call this a rocker switch, rather than a push button, but that's just a minor point. These switches are very handy for permanent or temporary use with 12V gear, whether it's lights, cooling fans, amplifier relays, POTA transceivers (ham radio), or general hobby use. In my case, many components of my ham radio setup are powered by 12vdc via a power supply. Normally, the power supply is always on, but by adding switches to certain paths, I can turn off unneeded gear and leave other powered on. The three color coded wires make installation very easy, and the supplied length of wire is enough for most applications. You can always extend your wiring by crimping or soldering common hook-up wire or zip cord.
