not sure if this is just a woman tax, but all the mechanics around me charge $75 to replace your filters. definitely worth DIYing, takes like 5 min and these filters fit a Honda Civic beautifully.

Fit great in vehicle. Works well. If you are on the fence, replace your old filters. Guarantee they are dirtier than you think.

This product came with instructions, which are also easy to find online. When I took out the old filters, they were filthy, so it was definitely time for replacement. The previous guy had installed one going up and the other going down (ouch), so be sure to follow the arrows printed on the side of each of the pair. Here is a subtle point about the installation. Each of the boxes is a simple cardboard frame, with an accordion-pleated piece of filter paper inside that fits the width of the cardboard perfectly. But the ends of the filter (the short edges) can allow dust to get around the filter if they are not flush with that side of the box. The plastic frame that these items are put into has a plastic flange along each short edge, and you're supposed to tuck the raw edge of the filter paper inside those flanges before you pop them back into place. That prevents the accordion form from shrinking or collapsing, making the seal tight on each end. This is not obvious, and it's a little bit tricky to learn -- but easy if you notice what to do and practice a little.

As shown in the picture, there are two in the package and the price was right when I purchased mine (though I do see it has increased significantly since then). Product seems to be good quality, slides into place nicely with a good fit that is not too tight or too loose. I expect it to hold up under my normal use with a normal replacement cycle (follow your owners manual). Easy thing to DIY vs getting a quick lube shop or dealer to replace. A quick note however Amazon.ca says this does not fit my car, Amazon.com says that it does fit my car and it does indeed fit my car (a 2003 Honda Civic SIR).

With the help of the included directions and watching a supplemental video, my partner and I were able to replace these cabin air filters on my new-to-us Honda CRV. The car came to us with very heavy cigarette smoke smell, so I spent about a week working on removing smell from the upholstery and vinyl with a variety of natural products from Amazon and an ozone generating air filter. When I learned that it was possible to replace the cabin air filters as well without a visit to the mechanic, I was excited to try. It was a bit of a learning curve, though, and it honestly took us about a half hour the first time (because of tight latches in the glove box and getting the wrong tools out). However, there's nothing like the sense of accomplishment of getting to DIY something on your car with just a little elbow grease. The most important thing, and it's stated in the box directions, is that you get the filters inserted into the brackets going the right direction. It's not hard, but it is important.I've seen a recommendation to replace these filters ever 30K miles or so, With that in mind, it's great to have an inexpensive source for the filters and know now that I can do it myself. If you have a single DIY bone in your body or just like taking things apart and putting them back together, I recommend trying this. Worst case scenario is you get your glove box unlatched and a handier friend than you has to help you put it back together.

Good Lawd does this filter get dirty. When I finally got around to changing mine one side was white and the other where the air hits was dark grey. Im going to make it a habit to change these every 6 months with my car air filter so that filthy air doesnt get in my precious lungs. These filters easily fit my 2010 honda element even though amazon says they dont. Shame on you Amazon! Dont worry, ill still buy from you. They are easy to install if you know how to open the plastic cover. Its not hard to figure out if you take a light and shine it on the clasp. Id say the worst part is putting back the plugs that hold the glove compartment door from opening all the way down. But they just snap in really. You can do it. The filter itself slides in and out like an old nintendo cart. Just dont blow on it when you take it out. Might get a puff of god knows what that's collected there. Cheap, easy and it comes with a free feeling of self fulfillment that you changed something on your car all by yourself. Changing filters is about it for me but at least its better than over paying to have it done by someone at a garage.

This is the cheapest replacement cabin air filter out there without sacrificing quality very much, in my opinion. The only differences I noticed from the original 2006 Honda CRV cabin filter (6417045L - that's the markings on the originals) were the following: The original had stiffer folds & had a stiff plastic liner along the sides.Other than those, the TYCs fits perfectly and should be able to do the job filtering incoming air into the passenger cabin.Just make sure you replace BOTH filters (the other one slides from right to left after you had access to the first one). The hardest part of the replacement process was trying to remove the latches of the glove compartment.I used a short "Phillips" screwdriver whose tip I covered with rubber (taken from medicine dropper) & simply pushed hard from the inside of the latches to pop them out!!!Also, since you also now have access to the blower fan, check it for any obstructions. This item is still 20% cheaper had I bought the replacement from that very ubiquitous retail chain.Again, thanks, Amazon!!
