When you install this stuff it fades fast and seems to shrink in the sun. Don't worry about getting it flat because it shrinks and pulls flat in the sun. Have enough fasteners to keep it in place, it will show stretching at the edge fasteners. If your roof is under a 4 in 12 pitch it says in directions to apply 2 layers with a stagger in the horizontal seam of around 13".

The ease of installation is much better than tar paper of yesteryear. And the slip resistantce is unbelievable with the proper footwear.

I bought for below a standing seam metal roof. In fire country, I like metal roofs. But to be as FR as possible, a good class A underlayment is desirable. Ideally for metal roofs, they don't like cap nails, they prefer glue down. But all the glue downs don't seem to be Class A. (probably the adhesive is flammable?) What I've done is to use this Tyvek membrane, then use stainless cap nails, (as the normal nail head might rust the underside of the metal). A bit more pain to nail stainless if you normally use a magnetic head hammer for cap nails, but, worth it. This produce is NICE to walk on. You feel pretty safe.

The best underlayment I have found so far. I wish I had known about this stuff sooner. Very durable, easy to lay down, and walk on. It has clear markings where you need to put nails, which makes it much easier.

This is high quality stuff. I bought some underlayment from a box store with a well known name (at least for pneumatic nails) and it wasn’t even waterproof! This stuff is as good as Grace underlayment, but I prefer this because it isn’t black and therefore doesn’t get so hot on a summer day.
