I used a 2ft section of PVC pipe to mount this too, and then two 10ft long fence top rails, with sleeves and thru-bolts at the joints. 50ft of LMR400-class coax cable (Wilson 400) brings it down to inside where I use it with a 10W handheld & speaker mic combo. Reception is good and I have no problem hitting a GMRS repeater that's just under 15 miles away, over the hilly Southwestern PA terrain.

This antenna (mounted on the side of the house) is connected to a 25 watt mobile and it works perfect. The SWR is 1.01, perfect.

I hold a Ham and GMRS license, I have been building antennas for over 18 years.I purchased this antenna , I did not need the counterpoise.Ok, SWR, Channel 1 : 1.23 SWR and on Channel 30: 1.40 there is your spread.I am running 20 feet of rg8x to a lightning surge protector, then 20 feet of LMR 400 that connects to the antenna. total of 40 feet.I do recommend this antenna. I will say I believe this antenna uses the coax as a counterpoi

I was going to make a mobile setup for this but decided to keep it at base. It's mounted on a standoff about 15ft up a mast in my yard, and used for GMRS. I'm hearing lots more, and am able to hit previously unheard repeaters. I may have to get another for it's original use.

Works better than the 80 dollar one I ordered from a private site that most people rave about. SWR is about 1.6. Only about 1 foot long and feels solid. Mounted it in the attic.

I just got my antenna today. I put it in my attic. I am super impressed with this antenna. Hitting repeaters loud, strong, & clear that I couldn't use before. This is a great value, & great antenna. I highly recommend it.

The sweet spot for this antenna is 435MHz. The SWR for the 70cm ham band is quite good, but starts to get in to the 2:1+ range for GMRS.One bad thing is that the threads on the SO239 are not long enough to get a PL239 connector mated properly, so if you are using this outdoors, make sure you use some good quality mastic to get a good weather seal otherwise it is likely the rain will get in.
