This evaporator was part of an a/c retrofit from R-12 to R-134a on an ‘85 El Camino. It fit well and the price was great! To do a flawless retrofit for ice-cold a/c, also change the condensor, accumulator, compressor, orifice, and have new rubber hose pressed on your original aluminum a/c lines at the auto parts store for much cheaper than aftermarket assemblies. I’ve found that aftermarket assemblies many times don’t fit and tighten up well. It’s crucial to not skip this as rubber particles many times slough off and are what is responsible for compressor failure. Don’t forget to add an oil charge and pull a vacuum on the system to assure that your money and hard work are protected. Buy a Robinair digital scale to assure the correct weight charge.
