This license plate set was great. I only needed the special screws for the bottom of my plate. I was glad though when I saw all the different types of license plate hardware. I don't think I will need anything else for a long time. The hardware was of a great quality and I would definitely recommend this product from Couslcd.

Yeah….it’s one of those “Vine” reviews…Ya all think that we will give 5-star reviews because we get the item for “free” -- well it’s not exactly free, and we do NOT have to kiss up to anyone. This is my sincere review. With that said, I’m giving this kit 4-stars. If you want to know why, please read on….Delivered promptly, this little kit was fairly well-equipped. This item is only going to allow the user to place 2 bolts on each license plate however. It comes with two different type fasteners (4 each), but seldom will you see the same car using a different front and rear fastener application. If you DO have this, then you’re set—there is 4 of each. With the exception of a mis-step of quality control (see later herein), the item is a fair offering at the price point as listed ($5.99 at the time of this writing, March 2025). If one looks at the listing in Amazon, there is a “Black out” type of offering (@$4.99), and then there is the chrome look offering (@$5.99). However, what I received was a COMBINED black and silver (stainless steel, but NOT chrome) nuts & bolts. As my picture shows the layout, from top-to-bottom, is the bolt washers & covers (8 total). Next are the 4 white plastic ‘receivers’ for the self-tapping screw-type fastener. (lower right of my pic). Those are resting on top of a black piece of backing that I must assume is to act as a leveler, washer, or vibration damper. This was actually a nice touch in case you need it. Another positive to report on this kit is the inclusion of the Torx bits that you will need for the fasteners. As most know, this adds a LITTLE bit of security to an attempt to remove the plate by a thief, but very little. Just about every thief has a set of Torx sockets/tools (they probably stole them from you or I 😊 ). Continuing down on the left side, it the (intended) set of 4 fasteners, complete with flat and lock washers; however, it is NOT complete with the 4th bolt—the aforementioned mis-step of quality control. Finishing up to the right at the very bottom is the set of 4 self-tapping screws to be used with the aforementioned white plastic ‘receivers’. So the bottom line here is that I did NOT get what I ordered as it was a mixed kit, then short one bolt. The only reason I did not give it a 3-star was due to their prompt delivery and the quality of the kit. Thanks for reading.

I ordered these screws because the old screws holding my plates on the car were rusted and very difficult to remove. So I thought these screws would make things easy to install and leave the plates secure. Wrong. And here's why:1. the first machine screw I attempted to put on the front plate could not be turned by the special allen wrench or screwdriver bit. The reason was a fouled screw head. You can see the fouled screw head in the photo below on the left compared to another screw on the right that looked fine. So chalk that up to a defective screw.2. when I took a good macine screw and started to turn it into the front plate hole I found out that the tools supplied kept slipping and the screw wasn't turning. I'm a mechanical engineer and to my eyes this means that the tool material is too soft (and can eventually strip) or the male/female tolerances between the wrench head and the screw head are too loose, leading to slippage when the screw is turned. Note that I'm assuming that the screws themselves are hardened stainless and will not strip, but I don't know that for sure.3. now imagine that you've snugged up the machine screws nice and tight and over the years the elements and road salt hit the screws. The screws may be even more difficult to turn and remove because there could have been corrosion in the hole threads. That's an even bigger issue given the difficulty using the wrench and bit supplied.4. given the plethora of 'secure' license plate screws online that seemingly all use the same type of wrench and bit design, I figure that if someone is in the business of stealing license plates they already have these tools by just ordering them online like I did. So how secure is this really?5. if you go forward with installing these screws, make sure you remember where you store the special allen wrench and bit. Otherwise when it's time to remove the plates you'll be stuck unless you buy another set.The reason I gave this item a score of 2 and not 1 is because 'maybe' I got a bad set of tools and screws. So what did I do?a. My simple solution was to unscrew the original screws on all my car plates and oil the threads on the screw and hole threads, then screw them back in. The oil will last a long time in the hole, preventing rusting, and hopefully the exposed screw heads won't rust away (very unlikely unless you live in the salt-laden snow belt) by the time I need to remove them.ORb. Buy dual slotted/hex head hardened stainless steel license plate screws that can be installed and removed with either a screwdriver or socket/box wrench. I ordered a set of stainless slotted/hex screws for one car and the screws were excellent but a little on the expensive side. But I figure I'll have them for life as I move on from one car to the next and need to install new plates. So from a value standpoint, the stainless hex head screws are worth it to me.And in a. and b. above I won't need to remember where I placed those special allen wrench/bit tools.

My front license plate was just screwed onto the front of my car with two rusty Philips screws. I had decided it needed a frame a long time ago but just recently got one. I went to install it and the existing screws weren’t just rusty they were too short. I really didn’t want to make a special trip for a few screws so I was glad to find this kit. Stainless steel bolts with security hex heads, locking nuts, decorative cap covers, fastener clips, and even some adhesive foam squares to stop any rattling you may have had previously. Literally everything you could possibly need to do both plates. I ordered the black caps to match the new black frame. Installation was straight forward and all of the parts are precise and high quality. It’s also an excellent value. This kit not only gave my SUV that perfect final touch, it fixed the noise on bumpy roads, my plates are now securely attached plus tamper resistant and did it all for way less that it would have cost me at the big orange box store (if they even have these screws). Oh, don’t worry the special security hex tool is included as well. Highly recommended.
