What a lovely brass gear! While it’s meant for a clock, I actually got it specifically for our Steampunk Camp theme this summer. We’ll have a whole basket of these for our future engineers to get creative — using gears, screws, nuts, and bolts to invent something amazing.I didn’t buy it for its original purpose, but I just know our little "gear heads" are going to love crafting robots or other steampunk-inspired creations with all the fun accessories we’ve gathered from clock parts.

We collect and restore antique clocks as a hobby and sometimes they do not come with keys. This is a great tool to easily wind them and find the size key needed for the clock. Nice brass design. Great tool for those who collect or restore clocks.

If you have an antique clock, an old, wind-up mechanical timing mechanism or antique toy and have lost the key or perhaps never had one - this will save the day.Five different sizes, so surely one of them will fit.

I needed a key for some vintage clockworks, you know, the kind with typical square cross-section winding shafts. This “universal” clock winding key would seem an ideal answer. Construction seems reasonably robust, material appears to be brass, and the key promises the ability to drive five different winding-stem sizes. For what you get, the 10-buck price-point doesn’t make me flinch. However, while I don’t have specific negative comments to make, I wonder if this key was sized for vintage clocks on continents other than North America. At least on the clockworks I tried it on, either the key didn’t fit or, if it did, the fit was sufficiently loose that I was concerned about it slipping, (possibly rounding the winding stem or hogging out the interior of the key shaft.)I wouldn’t discourage anyone from ordering one of these—it might be perfect for your application, but its performance my clock was less than stellar.

Having several wind up clocks, some with different keys this makes Sunday windings fast and easy. The fit is precise and the span gives adequate leverage to wind even my tightest sprung windings.Made of brass with stamped sizing in front of each key with a center hole for a chain, this is my new go tool for universal winding. At $9.99 it's worth all the money, I RECOMMEND.

I have an antique clock that I haven't been able to find the right-fitting key to rewind it. This one does it all.
