Keep track of the remote and label it if there is more than 1, i.e. Fire 1, Fire 2 and so on..

There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of third party Firestick remotes to choose from. It took me over one and a half weeks to weed through the list. You can really only go by what they say, and others that bought them. My experience is that with the latest generation 'Firestick HD' bought in Nov 2024, it doesn't work well with this remote. It WILL pair after a time, NEVER using the 'home' button as described. The main issue is that this remote came on firmware version 39. The factory remote is on version 55. So, it WILL operate the TV and the Firestick somewhat. The problem is EVERYTIME you use it to power up the TV/Firestick it will go into 'Updating remote Security software etc' for the remote which it NEVER EVER completes. It always fails and bombs out. Then you can use it 'normally' and all the functions seem to work. I've found that if you press 'return' and bail out of the 'update' you can use it as you normally would. However, whenever you power up the stick it turns on the TV and launches into the 'update'. Once you abort that, the stick will come on. I will say the form factor and design of this remote is nice and a 96% copy of the original, which is one reason why I bought it. Amazon charges almost $30 for a genuine remote. You can buy a 'lite' stick w/ remote for $16-$17 or another cheap stick around $20. I almost considered doing just that. I wish I had.
