Product Description

*New and improved version is the Uniweld NV1 Nitrogen Flow Indicator* Uniweld UNF3 Nitrogen Flow Indicator provides extremely low pressure precision gas flow control for nitrogen purging applications during the brazing of copper tubing in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration systems. The nitrogen must be flowing to displace the oxygen inside the tubing during the brazing process, preventing internal oxidation and the resulting scale. Scale build up inside the tubing can cause blockage in the TXV and within the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration system resulting in premature failure. The UNF3 Nitrogen Flow Indicator uses a float ball to visually confirm the nitrogen is flowing and allows the technician to first flush the copper lines at 25-35 CFH and then reduce the flow to 3-4 CFH during the brazing process thus conserving and saving nitrogen. If the ball does not rise in the tube there is no flow of nitrogen only static pressure and oxygen is not being displaced. The UNF3 maximum inlet pressure is 50 PSI and must be connected to a Nitrogen Regulator with 1/4 inch male flare outlet connection (Uniweld Part No. RHP400, RHP500, RHP800 - Sold Separately) to control the nitrogen gas pressure.

I tested the flow of this meter and based on the flow rate, the time elapsed, and the amount of N2 in the tank, I found instead of 15 lpm flowing as the float ball indicated, it was actually about 6.5 lpm. I talked with a representative at Uniweld about this issue. They deflected my concern and basically said, for brazing, you just need a little N2 flow, it is irrelevant how accurate the meter is. I would not buy this meter with it being so far out of reality. Waste of my money. I'll be looking for a meter that is accurate, not misleading. I also calculated the actual flow when the meter was reading 30 lpm ... 10.3 lpm. When meter was reading 35 lpm, actual flow was 12.2 lpm.

Works as described, with the price of gasses rising and the necessity ,for brazing with nitrogen as a page not going away anytime soon, this unit keeps you in line not wasting gas, and with its indicator ball floating on a stream of gas while in use, theres no more guessing if its actually purging your lines.

Does what It supposed to do!First timers, when you get a Nitrogen Tank, please don't forget this paired to a Nitro Regulator of your choice. It'll save you a lot of nitrogen for longer lasting stock management.THIS TOOL IS A MUST!!!

It works, but I wish the CFM range was actually smaller. At a low flow rate of 2-3 CFM (recommended for brazing line sets while flowing nitrogen) the indicator ball floats barely above the bottom of the scale. It actually won't rise above the lowest part of the brass body, although you can look down into the clear tube and see it float at very low output. This is basically a flow valve, not a pressure regulator.
