Should combustion be disrupted for any reason the sensor loses its signal and shuts the gas valve off.

I have an older Rheem Classic Quiet 80 furnace, model number RGPN-10EAMER. I have been having on and off issues with the furnace running. It seems like it is going to start, burners came on, but before the fan would kick in the burners would shut off. I cleaned the old sensor several times, but I was getting tired of that process. This part isn't a perfect match to the sensor that came out, but this one fit and the bar sits right in the middle of the flame like it is supposed to do.I've changed these out on other furnaces and didn't have any issue. With my current furnace, it was more than just tricky to swap this out. I was thinking 5 minutes tops, but ended up taking 30 minutes as I had to dig through my tools to find the right extensions and magnetic tips to get the screw back in place.It is an inexpensive part, but critical to the function of the furnace. If you aren't a handy DiY'r then get a friend or neighbor to help with this.

Worked great for our Payne Day & Night LP furnace. Easy to self diagnose... furnace would cycle all the way through and would stop short at firing up the flame... either the flame sensor or the gas valve. Better to start with an $11 part instead of a $150 part... installed the flame sensor, and BAM - glow and then flame. Perfect.

Why clean this part every year, its as easy to replace. My furnace would not come on, I had cleaned the sensor several times before. Now I would rather replace and know it stays lit. Perfect fit to my Carrier unit
