I really like this little heater for my sourdough monster. I personally wish the platform was a little larger so bowls would fit as well, but my starter doubled in 2h after feeding straight out of the fridge :) Keep in mind that the temp you set is a little higher than what is displayed to reach the desired temp in the vessel. Experiment a bit and error on the lower side....

I've tried many times to figure out different ways to get my starter to rise quicker. Everything from the proofing setting on my oven to a diy heater element is use the microwave. All of my clunky inventions didn't match up to this at all. This device is amazing, I can set it to 80° and within a couple hours my starter is ready for use. I particularly appreciate how well it works because sometimes I forget to feed the starter the night before and this allows me to get on with my baking and still get the job done even if I forget. You can put a pretty massive mason jar on here, so unless you're operating a full size bakery or something, this tool should be perfectly fine for at home use. There's definitely value here, it has a timer and a wide range of temperatures. I highly recommend this item for anybody who's a baker using sourdough starter.

This doesn’t work. It also cooked the bottom of the starter. It only worked 1 day.

Base is 5-1/2" wide, 7" long. The heated plate is 4-1/2" diameter. The temperature is clearly displayed. If the temp is set lower than ambient temp or the previously set higher temp, the side will have three blue bars. If the plate needs to heat, the bars are red.Temp settings range from 70 to 100 degrees F. It seems to heat quickly, but does not tell you the current temp - just your setting. You need to rely on the red lights going away to infer that you're at full temp. The controls are a smooth touch to adjust. Hours go from -0- to 12 for auto shut-off. If the unit is plugged in but turned off, the display is dashes for a few minutes then goes black. The unit weighs just under 7 oz. and has small rubber feet. Easy to clean.Good product for warming up the sourdough base. I like it.

Bought this for my wife and her sourdough making. It has helped tremendously as it was difficult to keep the sourdough starter warm because our house is on the cooler side which made it difficult for the starter to grow, which makes it difficult to get a good rise out of the bread. Beautiful, sits on the counter. Set the temp at 76 degrees and the starter is very happy!

This review is for Upgraded Sourdough Starter Warmer with Standard 2-pin Plug, Precise 1°F Thermostat Control (70-100°F) Sourdough Warming Mat for Home Baking, Smart Warming On/Off,12-Hour Timer Sourdough HomeThis works great in a couple of different scenarios:First, if the temps in your house drop at night, this will keep your sourdough starter happy. I don't add much heat, but it takes the edge off overnight and helps it get to max activity level when I get up at 6am so I can get the day's batch of bread going right away. I used to have to wait a few hours for it to become fully active after the heat came on.Second, it can speed everything up for the day. Get up early and feed your starter and put it on the warmer at 75 degrees. In an hour or two at most, it's doubled and ready to go. Which means it is not just active, it's hyperactive! The entire process of stretches and folds, first rise, etc. all the way to the fridge goes a lot faster. You can be done with all of the hands on work by 9 or 10am depending upon when you feed your starter. Huge time saver! In my experience - if you just want a steady temp overnight, set it to 68 degrees or so. If you want to turbocharge your starter the day off, set it at 75 degrees. It will go warmer than that but it's not necessary.

I’ve been making sourdough for years now, and this sourdough starter warmer has honestly taken my baking to the next level. The precise temperature control (70-100°F) is a huge win for fermentation—my starter has been more consistent than ever. I love the ability to set it by the degree, and it even has a timed auto shut-off for convenience. The indicator light changes color, so I always know exactly where it’s at in the heating process. The size is compact and doesn’t take up much space in my kitchen, which I really appreciate. Plus, it’s easy to store when I’m not using it. The material feels durable, and the built-in plug is super convenient—no need to mess with extra cords. It’s power-efficient, too, so I don’t have to worry about running up my energy bill.If you're serious about sourdough, this warmer is a must-have. It makes the process so much easier, and my starter is thriving. Definitely worth it!
