Digs to big of hole in lawn, especially if you have lots weeds. Each pull leaves 1”:diameter hole where the weed was, pulls lot of dirt out

UPDATE: My initial impressions of this tool were incredibly positive. I was so hopeful I had found a quality product in the sea of “throw away” products… but alas, my hopes are dashed. After using this tool twice (for roughly an hour each session), the head loosened up to an extent that the weed puller would drop open under the weight of gravity, rendering it useless for its intended purpose. No big deal, right? After all, the head of the weed puller has a screw to adjust the tension of the prongs… Well, it just so happens that the quality of that screw is absolutely terrible, and the head of the screw stripped out on my first turn of the screw. As a result, I can’t tighten the prongs, and the tool is now destined for the trash. It turns out they DON’T make them like they used to… What looks like an excellent value is anything but. Save your money and save yourself from a letdown!Old review:“Tried and true - This is a VERY well crafted version of a classic weed pulling tool that has yet to be matched! Yes, you will need to find your own shaft and handle to mount to the tool… but that is almost preferable when considering the hollow aluminum and plastic garbage most manufacturers pass off as “heavy duty” these days…I ended up salvaging an old oak shaft off of a rusted shovel, attached this weed puller head with a few solid steel screws, and set to work… Weed pulling heaven! This tool is a breeze to use, and it makes pulling weeds easier than ever. Even stubborn bundles of overgrown crab grass don’t stand a chance against this thing! In three fluid motions the weeds are uprooted and no more! For less than $20 you are getting a tool that will last the rest of your life and spare you from plenty of weed-pulling back pain. What’s not to love?”

The weed puller is heavy duty metal, resisting bending, breaking, and denting. To use, you need to attach it to a pole, somewhere between 2 feet and 5 feet long. The tool is not threaded and the exact diameter of the hole is difficult to discern, but I found that a tapered 5 foot pole works well when the taper is trimmed such that the weed puller is VERY snug. This snugness is important because the leverage you gain in using this tool is exerted on the pole, which may cause the end to compress a bit on first use depending on the quality of the wood that the pole is made with. The gripping teeth on the weed puller mean business and tear a chunk of soil with a weed of any size out of the ground - whether they’re taller or short/flat.The included screws, especially the pointed one, are perfect for installing the weed puller on a pole. The threads on the pointed screw are nice and high, keeping it in place even under pressure. The black powder coating of the weed puller is well-applied, it hasn’t been chipping or peeling throughout use even in gravel areas.Using a weed puller like this significantly reduces the amount of bending over and can speed up the process of hand-removing weeds especially if you have lower vertical mobility. To be realistic, you do still need to remove the weed off the tool by hand (it will be really wedged in there), which means you do bend and move a bit as you work.

Once I found a pole to use this with, this tool was good at removing weeds from moist soil. I found that if the soil is hard, dry, and made of clay, it cannot break through to get the weeds out. It's heavy and very well made.

This is what every person needs for optimal weed pulling. Made from quality materials and a great design. So far I've used it to pull Dalligrass and matured nutsedge weeds out of my lawn and it does a great job with little effort.

You need to get your own pole, but this thing is solid, I really didn't expect it to be. It's easy to use and works good, grabs a hold of the weeds and holds on. It is nice that you can get the length of pole you need , I would suggest taking it with you to the store to get the right size.
