I needed to upgrade an old USB 1.0 extender, and this seems to be doing the trick. Nice and compact. The switching power supply 5 volt wall wart is only rated at 1 amp, and is pretty tiny. So, this might not support USB accessories that require a lot of power. But, I'm only using it for a keyboard and trackball, so I should be fine. If you were using it with devices that draw more power, you might want to get an adapter with a higher rating. I don't know what the actual unit will support, power-wise, though.

Bien, me gustaría empezar mi reseña hablando de mi caso de aplicacion. Tengo una webcam USB 3.0 Microsoft life Cam versión 1080p, que quería extender unos 30-40 metros, la única opción mas o menos viable que encontré fue usar uno de estos adaptadores - extensores de señal. Tuve varios interrogantes a la hora de hacer la compra ya que algunos decían que solo serviría para conectar un Mouse y un teclado, otros que si funcionaria una webcam incluso dos, y otros que de plano hablaban de otros dispositivos como interfaces de audio o similar.Correcto. El caso es que a pesar de que en la descripción del producto indica usb 2.0 esto no debería ser un problema, claro que para el uso de una cámara a 60 fps o de gama superior pienso que podría causar problemas, de otra forma, mi clásica LifeCam tenía pinta de funcionar. El dispositivo es metálico e incluye un pequeño adaptador de voltaje (más adelante hablaré de él) además de un cable usb tipo D para conectar a la pc. La fuente de alimentación solo se conecta al emisor, el receptor obtiene energía del pc.Despues de varios días de espera porfin pude probarlo y... la cámara se CORTABA, se quedaba CONGELADA y, si lograba verse medianamente bien tenía como rayas horizontales espontáneas que dañaban la calidad. Debido a que la cámara iba a un software de transmisión en vivo (vMix) decidí cambiar el tamaño de la imagen, el perfil de color y la codificación del video a una más optimizada, vaya, básicamente estuve probando parámetros y después de un rato logré que funcionara. (Ojo, esta prueba con error la hice con un cable Ethernet Cat6 de buena calidad), con un cable corto (3 metros) no tuve ningún inconveniente.Bien, el caso fue que extendí mi cámara a la ubicación en donde iría, ajusté todo y la calidad parecía funcionar, el problema es que cada ciertos minutos aparecía esta raya horizontal por un milisegundo y luego se quitaba, total, esto no es un problema si ocurre cuando la cámara no está en vivo, pero si estás grabando y aparece este glitch probablemente te sentirás incómodo.En cuando a la calidad de la imagen y de mi cámara no noté diferencias importantes, únicamente el glitch y un poco de ruido (realmente es algo bastante leve que con un poco de procesamiento se soluciona) .Mis teorías de solución: bueno, pensando un poco en cual seria una buena manera de resolver este problema (no pienso devolver el producto ya que me parece que es bueno) tengo 3 alternativas que quizá puedan resolver mi problema y tu problema si es que quieres comprar el dispositivo.1. Uso de un mejor cable. Quizá utilizando Cat6a o Cat7 se obtenga un mejor resultado, definitivamente entre más corto el cable mejor se ve (el producto anuncia 50 mts pero probablemente lo hagan para un Mouse o algún dispositivo usb 1.0)2. Un mejor adaptador eléctrico. Si bien, el que trae incluido es funcional considero que estos glitches pueden estar ocurriendo por caídas considerables de la tensión eléctrica, y siendo un adaptador tan pequeño y de tan poca potencia lo más probable es que sea susceptible a variaciones en la red eléctrica del lugar en el que me encuentro (mi red eléctrica no es mala ni insuficiente, solo es una teoría)3. Uso de un regulador de voltaje o UPS. Bueno, quizá si logro estabilizar la tensión el dispositivo tendrá una imagen completamente estable y de mejor calidad.Haré estas pruebas y planeo volver con actualizaciones!!

I am using it with a 60ft Ethernet cable. The copying speed of ~ 300 Mbits is fine for USB 2.0. There were sync problems with my Focusrite Scarlett on the other end when I first connected the extender to the USB 3.0 port on my computer. I fixed it by connecting the input to the USB 2.0 port on my computer. Since then, the connection is rock solid with a minimum roundtrip latency (96khz, 16 samples).Good value, works as expected.

I use this to connect my sim racing setup to my PC when I want to play it on the big main TV in our family room. I have an optical HDMI 2.1 cable that runs from the PC to this TV, and then I use this USB over ethernet extender to plug in my steering wheel base, shifter, pedals, and e-brake. Everything looks and plays as though the computer is sitting underneath the TV, even though it is actually in another room on my work desk. I love it.I was a little skeptical about getting this over something like a more well-known device like the Gefen's (I have deployed many of those for work and they are rock solid, but expensive), but this thing has held up well for a few years now with zero issues to speak of. Would definitely buy again.

Works great with no noticeable lag. It is important that the "remote end" is powered, however, or the computer won't detect the "local end".
