This unit is really handy if you are limited on USB ports, or if you want to connect multiple devices but only use one at a time. I personally use it to connect 2 hard drives to my TV, one so I can record content and the other so I can watch movies on the TV off of it.There's no need for a power cable as long as the device doesn't require a lot of power. I don't have any issue with the length of the cable provided as the shorter cable is easier to hide behind the TV set.

= The Device Itself =A compact box made from anodised metal. Feels solid and well put together and has a bit of weight to it. If I was pick the operating switch feels a bit scratchy when you are clicking it.I did manage to get it setup with two laptops (MAC and WINDOWS) and was able to switch the keyboard between the two without issues. Importantly each device did not notify you that a device had been connected everything it was switched.= What does it do =As it's a bi-directional splitter you can either plug two devices into it and commect this to a single pc. The switch toggles which of the devices are connected. After some thought I cannot think of of really use for this that would not otherwise be covered by a hub. The other way plugging in one device which you can choose which of the two connected devices in connects to I can think of many uses for. My specific use was a desk keyboard connected to the switch with one onward connection to a desktop and an another to a laptop dock. It allowed me to use a single keyboard for both devices avoiding the need to plug-in and unplug the keyboard from each device.= The drawback =The switch unit is great, the two supplied USB-A to USB-A cable are very short, just over 12 inches or so. If you have a desktop under your desk for example they are unlike to reach it. Don't get me wrong its nice cables are included in the box but either provide reasonabale length ones (1.8m) or do not provide them. I would imagine that USB A- USB A cables are not that common is someone thinks they have a need for a USB switch they will have a specific need in mind and need cables of a specific length.= Summary =The KVM Switch box is great and works fine. The included cables unlikely to be of much real use. Cables can be found on Amazon so you can get the lengths you need. Don't go longer than 5m though.

This bi-directional switcher allows two computers to alternately access a single USB device, such as a printer, keyboard, mouse, or storage. It is not powered, so anything connected to it will be limited to the 500mA available from a PC’s USB-A socket. It is not a KVM switch, which traditionally would allow two computers to share a keyboard, a monitor, and a mouse. It could connect a wireless dongle that connects to a mouse/keyboard desk set, but as most monitors are HDMI the video feature is certainly absent.Although bi-directional I can’t think of a use where a single computer needs to be disconnected from one USB device before connecting to another USB device - surely a hub would allow both to be connected at the same time.It is very bad practice, on a Windows PC, to unplug (disconnect) some USB devices without formally ejecting them; data corruption, or destruction of storage devices comes to mind. Switching away from such a device when changing to a different computer, or forgetting it when switching to an alternative device would not formally eject it and could damage your files or devices. The switcher is neat and looks well made with an alloy body. The three sockets are fast (USB-3), as are the two supplied leads. I would not recommend this switcher unless you have a specific application that requires its capabilities. General day-to-day use where it could end up sharing a storage device between two PCs is not recommended.

This PVBCTCSID USB splitter is a nice, compact device that is simple to use, bi-directional and appears well made.I wanted to test this so I could share my keyboard with my work laptop and desktop PC. The splitter has a simple push-button action button (like an on/off) to switch between devices and works very well, with a small light coming on to show which port is active.Had the supplied USB cables been twice the length this would be a 5-star review, but as they are only 50cm they are actually far too short to comfortably reach both devices, which is not obvious from the either the seller information or pictures. As such I'm docking 1 star as I will have to buy new cables for this device to actually be useful for my needs. For use connecting two devices to one PC (USB stcicks in my test) this splitter is perfectly fine as cable distance is less of an issue, though obviously both devices cannot be active at the same time.

The USB 3.0 KVM Switch, Bi-Directional ab Switcher Splitter 2 in 1 out/1 in 2 out, 2 Computers Share 1 USB Device, Support Keyboard, Mouse, Printer, power-free Plug and Play (With 2 USB3.0 Cables) arrived neatly packaged in a plain brown Box.What's in the box?1 x USB switch.2 x USB to USB cables.I was very greatful that the seller provided 2 cables in the box, I wasn't expecting cables as well. The cables are nice and thick and are great quality, they are relatively short though, but perfect for what i needed them for.The switch constructed from aluminium and feels solid in the hands, and has some nice weight to it.All the ports were perfectly aligned and both registered correctly. When you press in the switch, it switches fast and hasn't failed to switch when asked.I have this switch connected to my Apple mac mini M2 pro and im using it to switch my over a hard drive and my printer and it has worked perfectly for this task.Overall, this is a great switch that's well built, switches fast, and does exactly what it claims.Perfect product!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
