Be warned... Make sure you have your soldering iron set to a temperature barely above the melting temperature of your solder - because the plastic these connectors are made from, melt just as soon as they see heat!

These are just the job for connecting programming sockets to embedded microcontroller boards like Arduinos and ESP32 development boards. fitting a normal USB plug takes up a lot of room if you can't position the board so its socket is easily accessible. You need a very fine tip soldering iron, 0.4mm solder wire and ideally a microscope to add wires to these, but it's much easier than trying to solder wires to the microcontroller board. I've use one of these with a GX12 panel socket to fit a programming/battery charge socket to a telescope mount control box.

I needed a connector to power a Raspberry Pi from a DC-DC power converter and originally just chopped up an old USB cable. I found the Pi was getting voltage drops even though the converter was plenty powerful enough. The problem was the thin wires in most usb cables so I bought these connectors and soldered my own wires, now my power issues are gone. The pads are big enough to solder too easily and the connectors are well made overall. I've only used these for power, not data, but I've no reason to think they won't be fine for that too.
