The split is very small compared to the shank length. It will only accommodate about a 1/2 inch wide piece of sandpaper. It did arrive much sooner than originally expected

Great price for a very useful tool. I use the every day smoothing the inside or rings etc and they do a great job. I have never had the issues mentioned in other reviews about the sand paper tearing and coming apart or coming off the mandrel. The users must be using very cheap sand paper or don't quite know how these mandrels are suppose to be used. I highly recommend these.

Works great for sanding and polishing projects. Remember to wear a respirator as using this with a high speed rotary can cause particles of sandpaper to fly in your face. There are few things worse for your lungs than sandpaper.Pros:Very straight.There are enough of them in the package to make the price seem alright.Lots of utility.Cons:Hard to think of any, its a simple tool and it does what it's supposed to.

I ordered these to use for sanding fine wood objects. I was very surprised and pleased when I opened the package and found that the Mandrels were of much better quality than I had expected for the price. If they are not tool grade steel they are something close enough to it. They look just as good as the pictures do. These are not light weight shafts but have a solid feel that tells you they wont be falling apart or cracking with a few uses.The mandrels WILL FIT A DREMEL TOOL, as shown the ends of the shafts are machine rounded and the splits seem to be fairly square to the shafts.All you need to do is add some cloth abrasive paper and you are off and running! I did a fast test with some cheap 220 grit paper sand paper I had handy and they work great, but the paper shreds at higher Dremel speeds so would advise cloth abrasive.Bottom line... These are great! and if I ever loose all of them I will buy more of them!
