Next, hold the handle with the head down and hit the ground or a hard surface sharply several times to seat the head onto the handle

For the price they're pretty rough. Bands need to be shaped and fitted to the ax heads, they are not pre-shaped. Also the ends need to be slotted because they are also not pre-slotted. Basically it's a rough piece of wood smooth handles cut in at an angle and the head is semi-shaped so the ax head would go on it. But of course she'll need a saw and a wood rasp and some files and sandpaper to be able to trim the ax handle enough to shape it to fit it into your ax head and you'll need to cut a slot for your wedges

So fat and featureless, one might as well start with a fresh cut stick of birch or beech or whatever it is. Too much time is needed to whittle it down to an actual shape. You get what you pay for.

I wanted to like this product. The profile for me was good, they’re quite thick, allowing for some customizing (this appears to be a result of mass production) One of the pair was cracked through and bad grain (looks like maple) making it useless. Why ship trash? I’m sending them both back!!!
