Resistance is good and even and it forms an oxide layer so even tightly coiled it tends not to short to itself. It is also easy to coil around a dowel or steel rod using an electric driver-drill.I would suggest drilling some holes in the spool to make it easier to hook the loose end through so it doesn't spring loose on the spool or become tangled during storage between winding one element and the next time you use it.I have successfully softened and fused soda-lime glass using the heat from this wire meaning it keeps working well above 750°C. I have successfully run 15A through this wire for an hour at a time. The only time I had some fail was when buried in sand, the wire failed after the sand melted to glass since glass reflects and absorbs infrared the wire eventually reached its melting point.
