I think this is a great bit of kit but I could not figure out how to use it for my project. This is likely due to my inexperience as a woodworker and not the bits' fault. I am keeping it in the hopes that I will gain sufficient knowledge to be able to use it properly in the future

Save your money until you can afford a decent bit. This one makes a hole but is dangerously unstable and the result is worse than a cheap hole saw!

The carbide blades cut so much better than the high speed steel bits I was using.

Update on purchase. After reading more reviews from other consumers I increased the speed of my drill press higher than recommended. After doing so the bit started cutting much better and quicker. I drilled another hole in the same piece of wood and was able to cut a new hole the same size in a ,after of a few minutes. After my latest use I would easily recommend this forstner bit.I wasn’t expecting the bit to be top of the line when I bought it but I will say I was truly disappointed. With the bit being described as carbide I would have thought that I could have at least drilled one hole before becoming dull. I took it out of the package and put it in my drill press and it to me over 30 minutes to drill one hole 1” deep. With the problem I had I would not recommend purchasing this bit

Works great. Very clean cuts. Make sure you use it at low speeds!

The product description says this is suitable for hand held drills, but the 14 stitches in my forearm say that's a lie. Also, the drill isn't straight so it wobbles.I took it to a friend with a drill press after I got out of the emergency room, and even then the board jerked like crazy for every cut. My friend also had one of the big DeWalt drills with the stability handle, and the bit also jerked for him in exactly the same way it did for me when he tried to see if he could make it work with a hand held drill. If you're using a drill press, you can get this to work with a lot of frustration because it will still wobble. If you don't have a drill press and still decide to give this a try, make sure you have something handy to staunch the blood, because the ER doc described the laceration as "impressive."

This bit worked as required in a floor model drill press, drilling shallow mortises for mounting a blank in a lathe chuck.Would not recommend using in a hand held drill

I needed to make a couple of holes in 4x6. Did not intend to use it very extensively. It did the job without any issues with a basic drill. Very happy with the work and price.

If you need to use this occasionally, then with some powerful drill you can get the job done, carefully! for a midiu or heavy use, this item will not be satisfactory , most likely.
