  • Made from cemented carbide (tungsten carbide) blade and being hardened and tempered. Featured with sharp edge, accurate positioning, high hardness, impact resistance, smooth cutting, high toughness.
  • For drilling flat bottom holes with no chippings in any thickness of soft wood. For drilling holes in any direction and making arched openings. For drilling partially overlapped flat bottom holes for easy mortising.
  • Drilling diameter < 40mm, maximum speed: 2000rpm; Drilling diameter ≥ 40mm, maximum speed: 1200rpm. Used on desktop (fixed) equipment, and can NOT be used on handheld power tools (such as hand drill or electric drill).
  • The product is only suitable for processing wood or soft non-metallic materials. Processing metal and non-ferrous materials, the tool will be damaged quickly.
2

  • Great for boring concealed hinges and door locks. The cemented carbide tip is designed to cut through hole cleanly. Can be used for wood products perforation, mounted spherical door shoot tip, drawer, plastic and wood products, plywood, etc..
  • Suitable for bench drill, vertical drilling machine, CNC carving machine, etc. The bit in the positioning is required to very low speed, and then gradually accelerate after complete position. Add water for lubrication and temperature reduction when drilling.

1

Two Spurs & Center Spur

Two spurs and centering point can offer repeated, clean and accurate cutting holes. The sharp center spur accurately locates the center of your hole.

1

Special Design

Small incision resistance to improve the opening speed. The head adopts arc curve design for easy chip-removal and no tremor. The perforation is neat, smooth, no broken edge.

1

Universal Shank

Hex shank is made of solid hardened steel, with high hardness. Can be used in drill press, bench drill, vertical drilling machine, CNC carving machine.

Tips

  • Processing hardwood or other hard materials should be injected with water to improve the quality and accuracy of drilling, and extend the life of the hole opener.
  • The tool edge and tip should be sharpened in time if they are worn or damaged, or the tool will be damaged quickly. Can not drill metal and non-ferrous metal, otherwise the hole opener will be damaged quickly.

I think this is a great bit of kit but I could not figure out how to use it for my project. This is likely due to my inexperience as a woodworker and not the bits' fault. I am keeping it in the hopes that I will gain sufficient knowledge to be able to use it properly in the future

Save your money until you can afford a decent bit. This one makes a hole but is dangerously unstable and the result is worse than a cheap hole saw!

Update on purchase. After reading more reviews from other consumers I increased the speed of my drill press higher than recommended. After doing so the bit started cutting much better and quicker. I drilled another hole in the same piece of wood and was able to cut a new hole the same size in a ,after of a few minutes. After my latest use I would easily recommend this forstner bit.I wasn’t expecting the bit to be top of the line when I bought it but I will say I was truly disappointed. With the bit being described as carbide I would have thought that I could have at least drilled one hole before becoming dull. I took it out of the package and put it in my drill press and it to me over 30 minutes to drill one hole 1” deep. With the problem I had I would not recommend purchasing this bit

The product description says this is suitable for hand held drills, but the 14 stitches in my forearm say that's a lie. Also, the drill isn't straight so it wobbles.I took it to a friend with a drill press after I got out of the emergency room, and even then the board jerked like crazy for every cut. My friend also had one of the big DeWalt drills with the stability handle, and the bit also jerked for him in exactly the same way it did for me when he tried to see if he could make it work with a hand held drill. If you're using a drill press, you can get this to work with a lot of frustration because it will still wobble. If you don't have a drill press and still decide to give this a try, make sure you have something handy to staunch the blood, because the ER doc described the laceration as "impressive."

This bit worked as required in a floor model drill press, drilling shallow mortises for mounting a blank in a lathe chuck.Would not recommend using in a hand held drill

I needed to make a couple of holes in 4x6. Did not intend to use it very extensively. It did the job without any issues with a basic drill. Very happy with the work and price.

If you need to use this occasionally, then with some powerful drill you can get the job done, carefully! for a midiu or heavy use, this item will not be satisfactory , most likely.
