I used this HSS to make a small box scraper for woodturning and it works great. The edge holds its sharpness for quite a while and you can't beat the price. The second piece of HSS will become a mini skew for miniature turning, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

The ends are cut at an angle. Once you square them, there's a lot less than 200mm left over.

I bought this blank to make my own tool for my wood lathe. It doesn't hold an edge as long as my better tools (or even some of my cheaper tools) but for $10 that's to be expected. For what I'm using it for it beat paying $50+ for a better quality tool.

I'm not sure about different levels of hardness for these. This one is very soft and requires resharpening sooner than I feel it should
