The M30D offers a good balance between timbre and roundness, while the B40D produces a compact and centered sound. The length and diameter of the Shank, the bore, the appearance of the tip rail and the external shape are the components of this new concept, which offers a perfect balance between a very warm sound and great intonation. 56 Rue Lepic reeds are more particularly recommended for these Mouthpieces.

This is one of the best mouthpieces I've ever played on. The sound is very centered and consistent throughout the range of the instrument. I have read where many pros are now playing on this mouthpiece. Don't be put off by the fact it's labeled "D". I have been playing for well over 50 years. This is definitely a keeper. I've used Vandoren 56/3.5 reeds to blue box #3. Very pleasant results with all. Articulation is exactly what you want with this set-up.

The description on Amazon makes it sound like it works for both, Boehm and Oehler (German) clarinets, but that's misleading. It's actually from a series of mouthpieces designed for German system clarinet while using French cut reeds.

I play a Buffet R-13 with an Icon barrel. I have been trying out mouthpieces for awhile, and actually really liked this one. It doesn't require extremely stiff reeds, has nice articulations and sound. However, the joint is too long. I have never had this happen before, but it does not completely fit any of my barrels, Buffet "regular," Icon, and a couple of other barrels I have. It doesn't fit "flush," and that really has bothered me, because I think it attributed to some minor tuning issues. This mp is considered kind of a hybrid, and maybe the German-style clarinets have longer barrels (to receive the mouthpiece). So there is probably a reason, it isn't a design flaw or anything, I just don't care for it. So I have sent it back. After trying many mouthpieces in the Vandoren line I have gone back to my own standby (I won't name it here because I want my review to have credibility.)
