  • Manufacturer: Vater Drumsticks

The Vater brand was officially established in November of 1991, but the Vater family history with drumsticks started decades earlier, in the basement of Boston's legendary Jack's Drum Shop. There, Alan and Ron's grandfather Jack Adams, hand turned drumsticks for the drummers like Buddy Rich as early as 1956. In the early to mid 1980's, the Vater brothers began producing private-label drumsticks alongside sticks for Vic Firth and Zildjian. A few years of this led to the brothers deciding to move their business to a new factory in Holbrook MA. Over the past decade, the Vater family and product line has expanded greatly, introducing innovative products such as the Splash Stick and Acoustic, and welcoming renowned drummers like Chad Smith, Stewart Copeland, and Josh Freeze. At Vater, our goal is simple. . . to produce the very best drumsticks and percussion accessories in the world.

These stocks are awesome, other than the rings slide up and pop off when playing. I put some electrical tape on them and it seemed to do the trick.

I’ve been using these for a few years when playing small venues. They work great and last a good bit longer than the other hot-rod type sticks. The rods still break, but probably last twice as long as the other brands. There’s definitely a technique adjustment to getting a good sound from them, but I acclimated quickly and will continue using them

Love these. Super durable. The plastic definitely makes it to where I can play harder without the wood breaking easier.

Pretty quiet on ride cymbals. Hard to do quick buzz rolls. Seems like they’ll be durable. I upgraded this to 4.5 stars. Really liking them now.

Like a heavy brush. I like that as you use the sticks, they splay out like rods do, but they don't splinter everywhere! Nice spank and slap to the hit. Love these.

I like these more than thought I would... I've only been using them for a few weeks, but they are holding up well.... Similar to hot rods, but far more durable... I'll be picking up another pair...

The rubber rings/bands that bind the product work surprisingly well. Other sticks that I've had before always suffer from bands that won't stay, requiring some tape to keep them on. These will stay together and last really long time. One word of caution is that when the white poly parts bend, it's hard (if not impossible) to get them to sit against the wood again.Store in something that won't cause the poly to bend.

This is now my second pair. This stick is great for having the durability of a wood stick but lowered amount of volume. My only complaint would be that some times after normal use the bottom end cap comes off of them and requires the use of super glue when reattaching the cap. Other than that it is one of the best products I have used for volume control of the drum set.

I little firmer than I thought but I still like them. Time will tell it they hold up. I will find a use for them.
