VELLEMAN EDU06 OSCILLOSCOPE TUTOR KIT. Learn how to get the most out of your digital oscilloscope. The board generates a number of safe 'real-world' signals, which we will use to perform measurements. Get familiarized with AC, DC and frequency measurements, sine and square waves, power supply ripple, full and half wave rectifiers, oscillators etc… Learn what terms such as V/div, Time/div, trigger level, auto-setup etc… mean. All experiments featured in this project are performed with the Velleman HPS140 Handheld Pocket Scope. Most experiments can be done with any digital storage scope. Some experiments can be performed with an analog scope.

Looks well built but I have to get a 9 volt EXposed adaptor before I can use it.

Received the Velleman Oscilloscope yesterday and finished all the tests (twice) this morning. Very good student level training aid but remember it states 9-volts AC and the power supply Velleman offers is 230-volt (European). I used a 120-volt to 9-volt step-down transformer and an old cable to power the circuit board.

Very useful for learning features of the Velleman pocket oscilloscope. One warning: this board needs to be powered by a 9 v AC - not DC - adapter, available only from a few vendors (including Velleman). If you mistakenly use a DC adapter the board will work for some things, but will not show ripple or half/full wave rectification by the diodes on the board. The good news is that this item comes already soldered, so there is one less thing to worry about. (You can buy an un-soldered version - a true kit - but the pre-soldered one is not much more and is definitely well worth the investment.)

I would stay away from this product if it's sold without a power supply to go with it. I actually smoked a 9VAC volt power supply with this product before I realized there was no voltage regulator (yeah my bad but wasn't looking for a transistor at first). Most circuit boards requiring VAC will provide their own voltage regulator since most VAC wall warts don't have an integrated regulator (you just get a transformer that goes from 120Volts to 9Volts.) In my opinion this product is actually a bit of a fire hazard since it was sold to me without a power supply and without some WARNINGS that I should use a power source only with voltage regulation. If none of this makes since then you should NOT be buying it.

The course was reasonably laid out but very superficial. Also, the written material didn't coordinate well unless you had one of the Velleman portable oscilloscopes. I was was using a Hewlitt-Packard oscilloscope and had trouble coordinating with several of their instructions. The experimental board comes fully assembled and is easy to work with. This is a very rudimentary tutor and seems a hefty price for what you receive.
