It's not perfect but it is very good. For the price it's excellent value. A big beefy face vise for not much money. Highly recommended.

The quick release slips and does not hold the wood tightly. I’ve tried to not over tighten to avoid it slipping but then my project moves in the jaws. I’ve tightened the spring but it has not helped. I feel it must be a design flaw. I want to return it. I have spent too much time on it already

Nice vise. The quick-release functions well. I wouldn't put too much pressure on the pop-up stop, but it works. Mounting is a little tough. The holes on the bottom that you use to mount the vise to the bottom of the workbench are huge and kind of oddly placed. So you'll need a pretty deep support to build your bench thickness up. They don't really give you an option to screw the unit to the side of the bench, which makes it way more secure and much easier to install. The holes that are provided are only meant to secure a sacrificial clamping face. So they're only counter-sunk from the back. I would recommend counter-sinking these holes from the front and using them to screw into the side of your bench support or drill and counter-sink 2 of your own holes.

This is a good solid vice for the money, the quick release function is really handy and time saving feature. And the retractable bench dog would be handy as well, especially if your bench has bench dog holes right behind the vice. The front jaw casting is pretty thin and I wouldn't trust it for excessive clamping force on irregular shaped objects. Plus the half nut (which is required for the quick release function) isn't designed to take much force anyway. Fit and function is better than I expected and the jaw alignment is decent. The painted finish is nothing special and will be flaking in places out of the box. Overall I am happy with the purchase.

It's cheaper than the local alternative and guess what...it works. It's a big honking vice that does exactly what you think; It's holds things firmly. The quick release works great. No issues.I'm going to make a pair of soft jaws for it. It is heavy so make sure your bench can support the weight. I fastened it to a torsion box assembly/work bench and had to put solid wood blocking in the corner of the torsion box.

This bench vise is as described. Weight is 31.5 lbs. Length over all is 22". Maximum jaw opening is 13". Four bolts come with the vise - 50mm long x 12mm x 1.75 thread. Just buy 2 pieces of hickory 3/4" thick x 4" wide x 12" long and install to pad the jaws. Note - my vise was missing the small vertical height extension. It was either left off during assembly or maybe it was deleted. Either way I am very pleased with this vise. I am so happy with this vise I could whistle "Dixie" out my ass!
