I've had a standard glass version of this. Look through the hole in the middle and you see where the reflected light is going. It seems amazing but probably just uses some simple optics. This one shows no beam, at least the day I tried it which had a very thin cloud cover with shadows very visible on the ground. It's garbage.

The mirror is a little small which is good for pack ability. It gets the job done but is probably better as a backup.

This mirror is a good size for wearing (acrylic construction makes it safer than glass, too), and the adjustable lanyard is also a good idea. The mirror quality is so-so, unfortunately. Lots of waves and defects mean this isn't good for other mirror uses, like shaving or looking around corners. It should be functional for rescue signalling (haven't had to try it yet), but the smaller size and mirror imperfections will reduce signalling range.
